In many cases, end users who are purchasing chillers will have to make a choice between a high efficient chiller that has a higher initial first cost vs a less efficient chiller that has a lower initial first cost. The higher initial first cost of the more efficient chiller can provide a favorable return on investment (ROI) depending on factors such as cost difference, efficiency improvement, electrical utility rates and operating hours.
The Danfoss ChillerROI App allows users to estimate this return on investment (ROI) between two chillers with different efficiency and initial cost based on the local electrical rates and operating hours for the project.
ChillerROI App belongs to Danfoss A/S.
How to Use
The user can input the baseline data for the project which includes capacity, running time (hours per year) and cost of energy. The data can be changed by sliding the target to the correct value. The user can also change the value manually by pressing the default value for several seconds. This will display the keypad to enter the value.
Next, the user should input the efficiency (IPLV) and Capex cost ($/ton) for chiller A. Chiller A should be the least efficient of the two models being compared. Finally, the same information should be entered for chiller B, the most efficient chiller.
The app will then display the return on investment (ROI) in graphical form at the top of the screen.
The user can also view the data in a summary report by selecting the menu at the top right screen and then selecting export. Metric units can also be changed in this section as well.
