Great for learning Chinese
My wife, who is Taiwanese, clued me into this podcast so that I can try to be more self sufficient when we visit her family. I do wish all of the lessons were available instead of just the first 120

The website CLO is fantastic. It’s helped me improve greatly in a short amount of time. The app, however, does not work properly. It is currently not possible to download any lessons beyond the initial 3 free lessons. I have purchased a subscription on the website but it either does not successfully carry over to the app after logging in, or the app has some issue downloading the files for new lessons.
This app crashes when I try to login. Would LOVE to see an update!
Crashes all the time...cannot log in.
Seems like this app used to be great, and CLO's website still is. But they've abandoned the app and not kept it up to date. I'm not able to even login now.
I've been using CLO for about 10 weeks and it is the best app I have found for learning Mandarin. The lessons integrate Chinese words and phrases with good explanations in English, do you can listen and absorb what is being said without needing to read a screen. That is great for when I'm walking, driving, or commuting. Also, the app is built so that the screen follows the text as it is being spoken, like a Teleprompter. That is very helpful for reading the words to record them visually in my head. If you want, you can see the Chinese characters as well, though I haven't focused on that part. I'm currently thought he first 20 lessons and can say a bunch of useful phrases on command now. My wife, a native speaker, says that my accent is quite good, and that the speaker in the app is very, very clear with her Chinese pronunciation. All in all, I think the approach is very good because it continues to reuse words you have leaned while adding new ones. It is the right balance of new and old to build a solid foundation without overflowing. One other feature I use often is the flash card approach that tests me on all the words so far (or that I choose, by lesson group). This lets me keep reviewing and marking the ones I didn't get right in order to practice them and keep them current in my head. I plan to continue through the entire series.
I was sad when I couldn't transfer my chineselearnonline podcasts to my new laptop off of my iPod but, I'm happy to of found this app. including the podcasts that I learned so much from and now by this app. I'm getting bonus material. I no longer have to write everything in pinyin.
I start needing extra help around lesson 90. Please add more lessons to the app. Your app does everything a learner would want and it is a simple design. Not hard to use. No wasted time learning how to work the flash cards or lesson management. Just right into improving Chinese !! thanks.
Having used other Chinese podcasts and apps before, I was really looking for an app like this that is well integrated and that you can do in small chunks at a time, for example while commuting. This app is clean, simple and very intuitive. The lessons are progressive, which makes it easy to build and reinforce the previous lessons. The exercises and videos make it fun... almost like a game. The audio and text synch is also a very nice feature that helps me concentrate on the lesson better. Great stuff, looking forward to more lessons!
This is an awesome program! It teaches you both words and what each symbol means within the words to help build your vocabulary and learning. My only problem is that there are only 20 lessons you can buy. I would LOVE to see that expanded!
