App helps a lot with learning Chinuk Wawa but it seems like certain vocab words crash the app. It happens most often with the Quizzes for some reason. I think its probably related to IOS updates or something like that.
I am really disappointed, because I’ve used this app in the past. Now every time I try to use it, it just crashes immediately. I am trying to use the app to teach my 4th and 5th grade students some words in Chinuk Wawa, so I’m pretty bummed it’s not working. I’m hoping it gets fixed!
I'm taking Chinuk Wawa classes and was excited to hear about this app. I was only able to use it a couple of times before it started crashing. App opens then immediately crashes as soon as something is selected to play. Bummer because it has a wonderful design and would be fabulous to use for studying and practice. I sure hope that development is ongoing and the crashing will be fixed. If the app worked it would be one I'd happily pay for. The concept is great.
I like the app and the concept is cool and I want to learn more languages. The problem is the audio just does not work deleted and reloaded and messed around with my settings but the audio just does not work.
It's such a simple and fun way to learn and I'm enjoying myself a lot. My one and only problem is that the app crashes fairly frequently. I'm not sure if anyone else has been having this problem, but were this bug to get fixed, my rating would easily be 5 stars. I'm continuing to use it despite the fact that it crashes too, which speaks to the high quality of the content! Would still recommend this, regardless if it gets patched.
I downloaded this app to learn some Chinuk Wawa and I am blown away by how accessible the app is, the pronunciations for the phrases, photos, and of course the illustrations create a very polished learning experience. I have only just completed the first quiz but I am very excited to keep learning. I would like to echo another review that said that if there was a donation link inside the app to contribute to the course or other funds I would love to donate. Another amazing feature is the culture section and I am very grateful to be able to read about the Kalapuya peoples' history and culture and educate myself thanks to the amazing people who made this app and the hard work they put in. My only critique is that sometimes the app crashes unexpectedly but that doesn't happen very often and doesn't make me enjoy the app any less.
If they had a donation link for funding more studio time for vocabulary, I would be more than happy to contribute (hint hint). Being able to hear the non-Latin sounds is invaluable to anyone who only has the CTGR dictionary without any acquaintances that kumtuks dret łush wawa to help them along. This app in particular tipped me to an Apple tablet while I was on the fence (it’s no longer available on Android).

This app is a needful and very much appreciated contribution to learning for Chinukwawa for learners of all ages. It is endearing in design, shows real community spirit. It delivers a baseline vocabulary in an accessible way with plenty of cues and tools to master the pronunciation of Grande Ronde (Southern dialect) speaking. The orthography is the new one developed by that community, and it is a great improvement, if a bit difficult to type some of the letters with an iOS device. The GR folks are amazing for putting this out! The only real issue with this app is that it weighs in at a gigantic 950mb... I can not fathom why, unless all the media are in full size wav files. Similar such language apps are usually a quarter of that, tops. If the devs could trim that down it would be great...
