Chronicles of Magic Reviews

One of the best!

It would be nice with a second and a third game. Also add a bonus chapter in it. It’s a little shorter then most. Usually it would be around a 2 hour game. This one felt more like 1 hour and 30 minutes but besides that great game.

I love it

Why No Bonus Game?

Really? All the names taken? on

When you pay this much, there should be a bonus chapter. Also, the voice actors (especially Nevis) will instantly grate on you nerves.

Fabulous!!!

I am a great fan of Artifex Mundi games and I never regretted buying any game. Professionals all the way.

That’s what I paid for?

Wow, I feel like I got jipped! I can’t believe how expensive that was! It was short and had no bonus game. I guess I won’t get excited when Artifex Mundi comes out with a new game anymore (especially since I feel I have to wait a whole year for one to come out). I’ll stick to Big Fish games, they are longer and cheaper!

Fun Game

May be too easy for some gamers. I am enjoying a more upbeat story line; less gore and evil.

Note to Catalina: this game was NOT developed by the same company that developed Noir Chronicles. Remember that Artifex Mundi is the distributor, as opposed to the developer. However I am in agreement with both Catalina and KimTwilight when I say I was disappointed by this game. It did have some positive aspects but overall I was somewhat bored and the game was extremely short to merit such a hefty price tag ($5.99 ON SALE)! You could customize settings. The storyline was one we have seen many times over. I love this genre (fantasy) and when a game uses magic as a tool it usually wins me over, but not this time. There was no cohesive journal but objectives were regularly updated. A marked teleport map provided instantaneous transportation between locations. Collectibles included morphing crows and black or white chess pieces; there was an indicator which glowed when a collectible was present. The graphics were quite good in most locations. However they were slightly blurry in others. The HO scenes had very little variation; mostly they consisted of word lists. The puzzles/games were extremely simplistic, especially the one where you invoked a magic spell with the aid of a magical scroll; it was a simple connect-the-dots mini game that was so ridiculous a two-year old could do it. There were not a plethora of tasks at each location and the game was quite linear to an extent. The game ran very smoothly and was free from any glitches. It was adorable and charming but I prefer more of a challenge and for this price a bonus adventure should have been included! My rating will remain at 3 stars. We get one game per month from Artifex Mundi and they are extremely expensive. Usually it doesn’t bother me but for this game to be so short and so trite truly offended me. I blindly bought it without even playing the trial because I normally love everything released by this distributor. I feel that Artifex Mundi is taking advantage of its gamers and I hope they read our reviews. Remember in April (don’t ask me the date) we should receive a game from Five BN Uk. It’s another installment in the Legacy series, so we can look forward to that release! Happy gaming to all!

Too short for the price

Rather decent game. Except, only 15% off, and no bonus chapter made me feel short changed. Shame.

This Game Belongs in the Black Kingdom — Not That "Good"!

Black and white, bad and good — can describe two kingdoms, standing at opposite ends of the spectrum. The Black Kingdom is cursed, plagued by relentless evil, while the White Kingdom, untainted by affliction, remains vibrant and pure. This story takes you on a journey through a whimsical world, where magic and spells affect outcomes with the help of special scrolls, as you try to save your child from a mysterious black knight. Along the way, you meet characters from both kingdoms, as you try to filter out who you can trust to benefit your objectives. In most scenes, the graphics are nicely rendered, with details that are sharp and clear. However, there are other scenes in which the visuals are slightly blurry. The Diary only records objectives, which update as you progress. The usual components are there: custom mode; teleport map, with action available, if applicable; and labeled inventory. The HOSs slightly vary in format; they are heavy on the word lists. You might say "awwwww" to yourself at the adorable storybook fashions. One of my grouses — and it's a big one — is that the puzzles are childishly simple. Offensively simple. Connect five dots? This cheesy puzzle frequently appears; and my discernment is that each time it does appear, it must count towards the total number of puzzles the game advertises. $5.99 for elementary school-level puzzles? Big disappointment! You discover two sets of collectibles, including in the close-ups. Not surprisingly, the free trial is extremely short — a transparent indication of the length of this game. As usual, there is no bonus chapter. Furthermore, the adventure portion of gameplay lacks challenge. Some of you might fall in love with this game and think that it is worth the money. Others might wind up feeling that what the game has to offer does not live up to the hefty price tag. I expect more value for my money.

I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!
