Description

ClaroPDF Pro is an accessible, reading and study PDF tool for all. Annotate, mark up, listen to and save PDF files which are then still fully compatible with other popular PDF apps. Have accessible text PDF files spoken back to you with human quality voice & synchronized highlighting. PDF image files or photographs of text can be converted to accessible, searchable PDF files using the Claro Cloud conversion service.

+ Speech, Productivity and Accessibility
Alongside the full range of iOS system voices, ClaroPDF Pro lets you choose up to 4 high-quality voices for free, in the languages of your choice. A ‘Speak in Background’ option lets you listen to a PDF while viewing another app - great for proofreading PDF files while you’re working in other apps. The ‘Speak on tap’ and ‘Stop on tap’ options make speech easy to control.

+ ClaroPDF allows the background color of the PDF to be changed, and text color inverted, to enhance readability. ClaroPDF fully supports VoiceOver.

+ Annotations, Notes and Comments
ClaroPDF includes a powerful Annotation toolbar that lets you add notes and other comments. These are fully interchangeable with most other popular PDF apps, so your ClaroPDF comments will still be there if you open the PDF on another device. Annotations created in another PDF app can also be viewed and edited.

Annotation features include: highlight; underscore; strikeout; notes; free text (type straight into the PDF); free line draw; shapes (circle, square, line - with many options); images (you can even insert photos from your iPad camera or photo library into the PDF file); audio and video.

+ Photos and Image PDF to Text PDF Conversion
You can convert photos and other images to fully accessible text PDF files that can be spoken, searched, copied and highlighted. As well as converting photos, you can also convert any PDF Image file into a fully accessible Text PDF file. Along with making these PDF files accessible and searchable, it will also compress them, reducing file size. 5000 pages and photos can be converted using the 5000 included credits. Further credit can be purchased in app. Photos and Image PDF to Text PDF Conversion in ClaroPDF uses the Claro Cloud conversion service and requires an internet connection.

+ Managing PDF Files
PDF files can be opened in ClaroPDF from all other apps, including Mail and Safari. All opened PDF files will be placed in the ClaroPDF Documents List for later viewing. You can also open files from Dropbox, Google Drive, or import files via iTunes. PDF files can be saved into ClaroPDF’s Documents, Dropbox or Google Drive, sent by email, or opened in other apps that support PDF files. The ClaroPDF Documents List is fully customisable, allowing you to organise your PDF files and folders.

+ Sync with iCloud
You can sync ClaroPDF with your iCloud account. This lets you store and synchronize your PDF files and annotations across multiple devices. Sync with iCloud can also act as a document backup so you can keep your documents safe.

+ Save as PDF Extension
The "Save as PDF" Extension lets you convert text and images to PDF files from Safari, Notes, Photos and other apps using the iOS "Share" feature. When converted, these new PDF files will appear in your documents list inside ClaroPDF.

+ Included Text to Speech Voices
Download any 4 of our high quality text to speech voices. Once you have downloaded your free voices, other Nuance Expressive, Acapela and CereProc voices are available to purchase in-app.

+ Switch Accessibility
ClaroPDF responds to switch or Bluetooth keyboard commands:
1 (~1) Start speech
2 (~2) Stop speech
3 (~3) Turn to previous page
4 (~4) Turn to next page

+ Fullscreen mode
Allows the full document to be seen without toolbars in view. Ideal for smaller screens!

Sticks app in portrait mode

No, no, no why would you do that!!! I use the app to read science research papers, to be in anyway readable I have to turn the phone to landscape mode. If you confine the app to portrait mode it will be unusable to me. I will not be updating until you roll that back. What numpty came up with that idea? Do you even consider asking your users how they actually use the app. I am seriously not happy, I use the App every day, and this mod will scupper me!!

Not bad

Works and uses given credits to convert to speech, can’t see how much credit but going by research it might be 5000 which should last me a while, can’t put on auto replay which is inconvenient to me as I wanted to replay to learn

Fantastic Update

The app is more stabler than ever. Just the annoying blotchy highlighter when highlighting while speech is going. Otherwise no big deal. This app is second to none. Being a PHD student and dyslexic would have been a perfect recipe for failure. Claro on my 12.9 iPad Pro has been a God send.

Brilliant assistive technology!

This is a great piece of assistive technology -I'm currently doing my masters, and this is my life safer with the amount of reading that I have to do!

This was the best pdf speech app

Unfortunately on iOS8 when you select speak in background and lock the screen it doesn't read properly (it seems to read half sentences?) shame because this was an amazing app for listening to PDFs on the go with the power to create notes and then upload to Dropbox!

Very good but... Update problems

**UPDATE** Very fast update to correct a startup bug. **FEATURE REQUEST** Persistant zoom so you do not have to every page of a document individually. Black background yellow text please, with easy switching to colour profiles. This is a superb app and with a few added features would rate as the best document reader available. Its pdf rendering is very fast compared to Pdf pro and Goodreader. ---- This is an excellent app but is lacking in a few vital features. 1. The need for a black backgroud and yellow text for those of us who suffer with bright screens. 2. When reading the word is highlighted of screen if you have zoomed in to be able to read the text. 3. The in document menus are standard ios menus so are too small. 4. A bookmark to continue reading where you leave off. Otherwise brilliant. Please do think about these features.

Great app, but...

I use Kurzweil 3000 on my Mac, and have been using Blio on my iPad. I found this app as I was looking for a replacement for Blio. Why? Blio will not allow you to use text-to-speech with a PDF and converting a PDF to EPUB using Calibre ruins the paragraph structure. Because this app reads actual PDFs aloud, rather than having to convert them, I was very pleased as I am studying Zoology and have a print disability. All of my course material is in lengthy PDF files, so this app, with its adjustable highlight and background colour seemed perfect. However... Unless I I am missing something very obvious (humble pie if I am...), I can not see a way of pausing, and reading from where I left off. Instead, reading commences right from the beginning of the PDF again... This is really annoying and I am just glad that I am not studying English as War & Peace may take a while, and poor Jane Eyre would forever be in the window seat. I take this all back if I am missing something obvious. However, if I am not, please please could we have an update to rectify this, and to make bookmarks. I have cerebral palsy and need an app like this, so would happily pay more for an updated version to address this issue. Again, thanks for this app, and apologies if I have missed something obvious that enables you to read from where you left off. Sarah Cornwall, England
