COM-DEX FAQ
Is COM-DEX free?
Yes, COM-DEX is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is COM-DEX legit?
⚠️ The COM-DEX app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
We (my hearing aid professional) have tried everything, including a new loop from WIDEX to enable the loop to connect to the app, to no avail. The loop connects to the iPhone Bluetooth without a problem and I can stream music and calls, just not connect to the app on the phone.
Even with technical help at WIDEX working with my specialist has not fixed the problem.
Before my old loop battery wouldn’t take a charge, I was able to connect to the loop-app. and adjust volume, etc. But for some reason I cannot connect to the loop to the app. any longer!! 12/1/2022. I really miss the app. controls!!
Works great!
Sometimes I have problems getting it to connect on the app to be able to use the app controls but even if it doesn’t show to be able to use the controls it will still work to answer & talk on iPhone
Doesn’t work
Works great with android phones but not at all for iPhone
No app support to be found
Updated for iphone 11+ and iOS 14: Unless the phone remains ON, all settings in the Widex disappear. I set it to “More Clear”, “Crowd”, “Front Focus” for business and as soon as the phone is turned off, the hearing aids go back to quiet. This app also hasn’t been updated in THREE YEARS.
Original: I enjoy having the ability to connect my non-mFi hearing aids to my iPhone to be able to stream music and am thrilled to finally be able to hear conversations on my phone via my hearing aids. HOWEVER, there are MANY problems with the app. I discovered that this app can cause multiple problems with your iPhone (at least with the 7+ and iOS 12.xx) since after replacing my iPhone, the same problems persist.
While the app is not required for conversations on the iPhone or even for streaming music, the ability to direct where you would like the sound to be focused is very handy in many situations. These are the problems I’ve encountered:
1. It can cause your Settings to shut down unexpectedly when you enter it to try to get your device to connect with the app.
2. The app will not acknowledge the same device after a charging session (it MAY after a quick disconnect). The only way to reconnect is to go to settings (see #1) and forget the device and/or delete and reinstall the app. I’m having to do one or both on a daily basis to connect.
3. It may cause the apps used for streaming to lock down for anywhere from several seconds to requiring a shutdown of the app. I have had this problem with both Audible and Amazon Music.
4. The notifications tones usually do NOT come through the device. I can’t say always because just when I despair of it working, it will allow notification tones for an hour or day and then stop again.
5. There is no place to request app support. When you go to the website, it only shows you how to do things with no way of contacting a person unless you want to buy something. If I can’t get help, why would I consider getting more of their devices??
Doesn’t Work Most of the Time
Have to reset/reinstall the app multiple times a week. HA’s will work with the phone, but the app doesn’t detect them. On that rare occasion that it does, I don’t know what has happened to enable it. I would use the app to increase or decrease volume and check ComDex battery, but most of the time it’s not working. My V.A. audiologist doesn’t have any more luck with it than me. Thankfully, my HA,s are 6 years old and the Widex contract has expired, so they’re being replaced next month with a pair of Phonaks which use Bluetooth connect but don’t require any other device, so I’m going to stop complaining.
Fails to connect to COM-DEX
When I try to get App to see device I need to disconnect all blue tooth devices and power cycle phone. It’s just not worth the aggravation. I can understand having to this once. Not every time.
Horrible
This is a horrible app and anyone looking to buy hearing aids with Bluetooth capability should not buy Widex hearing aids. It will not connect. Ever.
Love the com-dex
I have the app on my iPhone but I’d like to know why it disappeared off my iPad and will not reinstall on it? It’s got that little balloon that shows where it was there before my iPad needed restored but I tapped it a few times and it retreats back to the balloon. Please get this fixed.

VERY UNRELIABLE. CANT TELL YOU HOW FRUSTRATING THIS APP IS. IM A WIDEX USER FOR 10 years and if I can’t get this fixed by either my audiologist or manufacturer, I’ll look for a new manufacturer and a new audiologist. 843-458-5638
Poor connectivity
Product is so unreliable cannot even get it to connect with new iPad Pro 3rd generation.
Works sometimes on iPhone without the beeps. Paying so much for full tech hearing aids you’d think Bluetooth should not be so hard to program for.
Will think more than twice about buying Widex heating aids again even though this is my second pair. Others have the blue tooth technology working so much better.
