Copper Books FAQ
Is Copper Books free?
Yes, Copper Books is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Copper Books legit?
✅ The Copper Books app appears to be high-quality and legitimate. Users are very satisfied.
I’ve anticipated Copper long before it officially released. My hope was that it would become the new Goodreads (which we hate to love and love to hate, just like Amazon). It has a long way to go before it’s reached its full potential.
Here are my current grievances:
1. The genre groupings are incomplete and don’t make sense. Why is Fiction grouped with Historical Fiction? Why is Romance separate? I would like to see genre and sub-genre groupings.
2. The genre button links don’t lead to their respective genre. For example, when I tap on the the Romance link, it opens up Betterment. Fiction & Historical Fiction opens up Mystery, etc.
3. The library is incomplete, especially when it comes to sci-fi and fantasy. There are duplicates as well. There needs to be a better way to consolidate the catalogue.
4. Speaking of catalogue, requesting to add more books is awkward and time consuming.
5. This is a minor one, but since I don’t use this app as much as I want to, the app will log me out occasionally for no reason.
I enjoy the interface, the ability to have discussions, and the ease of use (mostly), but the last update was 9 months ago. This app has a long way to go before it gets to where it needs to be.
Significantly better than goodreads
A great place to see what like minded readers are reading and see thoughtful reviews. Love sharing my bookshelf and seeing others
I Needed This App!
As an author, I needed this app. It’s a way for me to connect with other writers, to share ideas and to get motivated.
As a reader, I REALLY needed this app! I tend to get in a rut, going back to the same books. Now, I scroll through discussions or visit someone else’s bookshelf and discover new books. I’m so excited to be reading more titles from more authors. I feel inspired!
Lastly, I needed the app for the community. As an arts professional, I’ve lost so much of my community in the last few years. While we are rebuilding, having Copper as a place to be, to share my expertise, to join events and conversations and to learn from other readers and authors—it’s a huge gift. I’m grateful to be in this community.

Needs work
Missing books and poor search functionality
A wonderful start for authors and readers
I’m already enjoying putting together different bookshelves, though I was pretty confused at first. I really enjoy the layout and simple design of the app, which makes it easier for navigation.
My only “peeve” I have is when searching for books to add to these bookshelves. I’ve noticed more than half of what I have read is not able to be added because it is not available. I wish there was a way to add books that may not pop up at all.
I have also noticed that in regards to the search, it is extremely finicky. Even if I spell everything correctly or include the entire title, sometimes it will not pop up or if it does it will disappear after a second and I would need to delete or add letters (in search bar) in order for me to find it again. I hope that they are able to fix this issue and also add the opportunity for users to add books that do not pop up when you search. I would love to share/organize, in-app, some of my favorite books and authors but I’m unable to because of this.
Nothing better than community recommendations
Love this app! Connecting directly with authors and seeing the bookshelves are my favorite features.
Exciting alternative to mainstream social media
I am loving this new bookish community. I find it to be very helpful in meeting writers and readers just like me. It feels uncluttered and focused on the books and authors, and that is a huge sigh of relief. I have been looking for an alternative to FB and IG and this just feels right!
Beautiful all around
Love the idea, the design, and the execution. All around exactly what I was looking for
Very impressive!
This looks very good! I’m eager to dig in and explore the app.
For the love of books!
As an avid reader, I am excited to build my bookshelves, mark favorite my go-to books, and connect with the authors of the books I love!
