ABOUT CRAZY GEARS
Explore a captivating digital playground in this tantalizing puzzle game! Children manipulate gears, chains, rods, and pulleys, to pull themselves through each level, which teaches them how different mechanisms affect one another when constructing a machine. Each reasoning challenge was carefully designed to adhere to the theories of educational technology pioneer, mathematician, computer scientist, and designer of the first programming language for children, Seymour Papert.

“The best use of games is to leverage their tendency to enhance learning”- Papert
Recommended Ages 5-9

As a child, Papert fell in love with gears. Their movement fascinated him in every way and inspired his career. Crazy Gears was conceived not only as a tribute to him, but with the hope of providing a child with the inspiration to discover and understand the physical properties of mechanisms found in their everyday lives. Such complex notions include tension, motion, and gravity. We achieve this by encouraging the child to manipulate the objects in each level to determine how they work together to accomplish a goal. Interactions with technology give kids the power to construct their understanding of STEM/STEAM subjects in meaningful ways. Here we engage them in play that does just that!

Does Not Work

This app does not work.

Good but not enough levels

Jkp2014 on

My kids age 5 and 8 really like this game but they will be “done” after a couple days. I thought this would be more of a building style game like Ball Fall Down but it’s more of a puzzle game. I wish there was an option for kids just to create with gears

Addictif et très réaliste

Delk6 on

Great brain game!

Not only do I find this game fun; my children do as well! It's a fantastic way to promote planning skills, cause & effect, and reasoning skills in a colourful, yet simplified way. It's easy enough for my 5 and 6 year old daughters and challenging enough to keep my interest. Thank you! I'd love to see more!

App crashes after June 10 update😕

Prairiemaid on

This is a great app, however the June 10 update now causes it to crash on my iPad Air 2. Please fix and I will give this app 5 ⭐️.

I'm having trouble opening my app!! 😣😣

Simple and beautiful

luewho on

A great follow up to Busy Shapes. My 5 year old loves figuring out the gears and it's cool to see him smile when he solves a tough one. I love the simple addicting nature of solving these gear puzzles myself when I can get the iPad back. Nice one!
