Cryptic Crossword

These crosswords are great for anyone starting to do cryptic crosswords, or if just wanting to complete them for fun more quickly than the more difficult ones elsewhere. A lot of clues are anagrams or hidden words. In some there’s a charade element combined with anagram. It’s good practice anyway. Once you’ve done a few then likely you can solve more clues without or with less of the help available. For help you can select anywhere to get your chosen letter space put in for you, and you can ask for as many as you want, or whole words if you wish to give up on a clue. I’m enjoying these whereas at the moment I find newspaper crosswords too difficult. This is easier than a similar app that I found too difficult. I might have given up the idea of going cryptic if it weren’t for this. Just completed the 8th one and so far no adverts and no charges.

I bloody love it

Had this for years and it’s amazing value. The clues aren’t quite as hard as many papers’ and the fact that it’s a fixed set of puzzles rather than a regular release makes the experience more relaxed.

This set of cryptic crosswords are relatively easy as cryptic crosswords go. If you’re a cryptic novice, the menu button has help in the form of letter or word reveal and also how it’s solved. I’ve found it good value too with the number of crosswords available. You do have to get used to how the cursor moves but once you get it there’s no problem. I couldn’t find another set to play so I’m going back through these. I can see how much I’ve learned cos I’m going through them much quicker than first time.

Just the job if you’ve got 15 minutes to spare. Not too difficult but keeps your brain ticking over.

I really like the app: clues are well constructed in general, and it’s really satisfying to get the celebratory confirmation after completion; however, the app lacks any facility to help if stuck. It would help if, for example, a wrong answer could be indicated, or clue letters could be given, or an answer guide was available. This lack of help means it is ultimately frustrating for those puzzles that you just can’t solve.

The level of clues is about right. Not too hard but you have to think. I bought the whole pack and it was good value for money

I love this app-it is teaching me the ins and outs of cryptic crosswords. The puzzles are just about right for me as a beginner. My only concern is will you be adding more puzzles? I am over half way through and don’t want it to end!
