Through the App, CTM does not access to any of your personal data stored in the device.

Charged 106 euros when we tried to pay and got refused
When we went to pay for a ticket with the driver he refused and told us to do it online. We struggled to find the appropriate app to use and then they expect you to download it, make an account, figure out what ticket you need and then put in your card details and pay all within a short amount of time. This doesn’t work as firstly if you don’t have internet you are unable to download or show the ticket, secondly with low battery you are unable to use it and thirdly not everyone is able to download apps on their phone. We struggled due to the lack of service and our phones were low and ended up getting charged 106 euros because we couldn’t buy a ticket. Also all the instructions are in Italian. We are used to paying for where you are going not having a set price so that confused us. What makes it worse is that local Italians then got on the bus and gave the driver money for a ticket and he accepted it. This is unfair on tourists or non Italians and we shouldn’t have been charged. Especially since it’s not a known thing to download this app.
Scam
The app gives you all the information you need to buy a ticket and then lets you purchase it but completely fails to mention that you have to validate it in the app. So you think you have safely purchased your ticket until the inspector shows you that by clicking on the ticket which is not highlighted in any way, presents the validate option! Be very careful or you’ll be fined €50 each and threatened with arrest….trust me….it happened to me and my wife. And don’t get me started on the officious inspector!
Harassment
This public transport is an absolutely joke. You cant pay for your tickets by the bank card, the bus driver will say - scan and pay but in a reality their scanning code doesn’t work. Then a penalty and harassment from their controllers £53 per person. Shouting and scaring you by police but when you ask them to call the police - they don’t do it saying you will go to the prison. They don't allow you to video them or make the photos but they feel free to record you. They you try to explain that we are happy to pay for a bus ticket… they don't help you or explain how to do so.

My wife and I got on the bus, driver didn’t accept cash, we started to download the app, asked someone for help and were issued a €52.50 per person fine. Such a disappointing thing to happen.
Just avoid public transport.
Ticket validation advice
If you are unable to validate your ticket and see a blank screen after pressing the Validate button, your camera may be turned off under the BusFinder app in the iPhone Settings.
Try this:
- Go to iPhone Settings >
- Find the BusFinder app >
- Turn on camera access >
- Open the Bus Finder App >
- Touch the ticket you want to validate >
- Now try pressing the Validate button again >
- You should see the camera app open >
- Now you can scan one of the QR codes found in the bus to validate the ticket
I hope this helps other well intentioned customers who experience the same issue avoid incurring a harsh fine by some very strict and aggressive ticket inspectors who are unwilling to help customers resolve their technical difficulties.
If you are a tourist you cannot use
They only allow Italian numbers to be used so if your a tourist you cannot buy a ticket. You cannot buy them on the bus either! So if you're not near a store to buy one, they let you get on the bus and fine you around €30 for not having a ticket. Nice!
Must have if using Buses in Cagliari
Official app of the bus section of transport for Cagliari. Useful for finding bus timetables, how to get from A to B and with integrated maps and GPS helps you find closest bus stop and ticket office. If your Internet works on your phone it also gives you live updates on ETAs. Strongly recommend it. Only problem is it's only in Italian but still, quite intuitive.
