Bad interactive. Bad puzzle. Bad music. Bad story line
Overall this game is a good distraction. The puzzles, many multi-leveled, lead one into the final conclusion. Overall I didn’t find the puzzles very difficult or challenging and I finished the game is six sittings. As for others saying the game is too short, it took me a little over 4 hours to finish, including the time it to me to document locations and puzzles. If you like the other Fire Maple games, then give this one a try.
This is the first ever review I felt like I had to write because other reviews say that the game is too short and not that fun. The game is as long as the Lost City/Grizzly Mansion and the game is as always, very fun! Hope this review helped at least one person.
By far the worst Fire Maple has released yet. Although the game was still fun, the storyline seemed rushed and the ending was abrupt. For the price you are paying I wouldn’t say this game is worth it. I love everything Fire Maple has come up with until now. Usually these games take an entire day or more to finish. This one I completed in about 2 hours. Needed and wanted more from this game given how high the bar is with their other games. And there was way too much back and forth between clues and hidden objects, spent more time walking through than spent doing puzzles. Unfortunately this is an underachievement for an otherwise great game maker. I hope the next one is better.
I have purchased all the other Fire Maple games so far (the Secret of Grisly Manor, Return to Grisly Manor, the Lost World, Thickety Creek, and the Hidden World). Usually the games are decent and a good length for the price. However, I was disappointed with this one and could not believe it ended so soon. The game itself was fine (not very challenging and the next step was usually quite predictable), but it really should have been twice as long for the price. This one feels like it is only the first half of a longer game. It reminds me of games where the developer releases part of the game early on to raise some capital while continuing to develop remaining chapters. Then those extra chapters are free for those who bought the game to download as they are developed. The two positive reviews seem a bit suspicious - both giving 5 stars and way too flowery with creative words as if they were written by friends or paid reviewers. Terms like "infused with enchantment", and "perfect ambiance... extremely well crafted" seem out of place and over-the-top compared to comments from other reviewers. I still enjoy and play the developer's previous games and like them, but this one falls short.
Another outstanding adventure game from Joe Kauffman. The graphics are fantastic and the music and sound effects give a perfect ambience to the game. The puzzles are extremely well crafted and just the right level of difficulty. I sometimes wish there was a teleport ability, especially when nearing the end of the game, but it is nowhere near a deal-breaker. This game gave me about 3 hours of play, buy I have completed all Fire Maple’s previous titles so you could say I am an ‘experienced’ player. There is a hint system if you get really stuck, but I am too stubborn to use it. This is my favourite genre of game, and I really look forward to the next title. Fire Maple games are an automatic purchase for me, and have been for a long time. They are all excellent value, and I wish there was more like them.
Another great game from Fire Maple. Was a little on the short side (especially at this price point) but highly enjoyable.
Every location is absolutely infused with enchantment. Slow down and lose your worries awhile in the beautifully detailed scenery, quirky adorable characters and light-hearted fun puzzles.
The game is pleasant to play as the graphics are nice and there are no glitches. But, there is no challenge to the game either, and it takes only about two hours to complete. This makes it quite overpriced in my books considering other, far superior games you can get for the same price, or not much more, that also have much longer play times. This game should be less than half the current price. Three stars is generous.
The graphic are awful 2D animations that were around 10 to 15 years ago. Navigation is laborious and slow. Clicking through back story pages, a sentence at a time is painfully slow. The puzzles are very obvious but with one or two totally obtuse ones too. However, ‘Help’ is behind a weird delay of 3 to 8 minutes (no idea why it varies.) Avoid unless you are 12 years old!
