Description

Custom Video Speed for YouTube is a Safari extension that lets you have much finer and more consistent control over the playback speed of YouTube videos.
The extension automatically applies your current speed as you click through new videos and you can set your current playback speed as the default so that every time you open a video, it is automatically set to your preferred speed.
You can control the speed of YouTube videos using the pop-over on the extension or using keybindings on the keyboard. These keybindings can be customized in the options page or turned off all together if you don't like them.
You also get finer control over the speed than is provided by the YouTube player. You can move in increments of 0.05x 0.1x, 0.5x, and 1.0x. You can also go from a little as 0.1x normal speed all the way up to 8.0x normal speed.

Custom Video Speed for YouTube Reviews

Doesn’t do anything

I installed it, allowed it, enabled it but I don’t see any options on YouTube for this. Edit because of developer response. I would say not clearly because I have no pop over like you have in your screenshot, and am on an iPhone so there is no keyboard that pops up when watching a video. Looking at the permissions it has the YouTube sites listed as ask, but I have not been asked to allow the extension on any of them. I stand by my review that this extension doesn’t work, or if it does and I’m doing something wrong then the documentation needs work. Second edit: I played around with this some more and finally got it working. I had to go in and change ask to allow on all the sites because it did not ask me for permissions. Once I did that, the extension icon showed up in the address bar and I was able to use the extension. For someone who had never used a safari extension and barely uses safari on an iPhone before this was a bit of a struggle to figure out. For example I had no idea you could hit the Aa icon and open up all of safaris settings, including extensions. I will update my review to 3 stars, will make it 5 stars when the documentation issues get resolved.

it works exactly the way I want it to, and is very easy to use once you figure out how to install and configure it. I use it to listen to Spanish language videos a little bit slower than normal speed. So I have the preset button set to .80, .85, .90, .95. it's unbelievably useful, and I would give the developer 100 stars if I could. If the developer had a Patreon page I would gladly pay him a little bit for this marvelous product. Or if he wanted to ask for an in-app-purchase of a dollar or two it would certainly be worth it.
