The navigation for cycling in London
I have gone in adventures and down quite roads which have filled me with awe. It has taken me on 50 mile trips to places I could not have done along motorways and main roads. Fabulous. - thank you. May I make a note to the designers. The royal blue line is not different enough to distinguish from the cycle routes. Could you change the colour of the route to say orange. I am now a life member and cannot recommend it enough. Well done. 🙋🏼♀️
This is so clear - brilliant
We have been using the App to help us explore London. Using the quiet setting has led us through woods, parks, by rivers and canals all while crossing central London. Our last ride took us to the front doors of the Hilton Doubletree Hotel, through the lobby, past reception and out the back doors on to the ferry to Canary Wharf. The view was amazing and the moment felt magical.
Hi there, is it possible to change the default average speed from 8.7mph. I use an electrically assisted cycle, and my average is nearer 12 ? Everything else is really awesome by the way ! Kind regards Simon
Only used this a couple times since downloading but has all the relevant features I’d need when cycling in a new area. The only suggestion I’d make, to improve the app, is for the option for the route to automatically redirect when the user makes the wrong turn or goes the wrong direction, particularly on roads when it’s unsafe to stop or turn around. Other than that perfect
Does not seem to know safe short routes in London. Instead it seems focused on getting my health data. I need good directions, not a calorie counter.
I use CycleMaps for my mobility scooter journeys and for the most part it has been very useful. One problem though has been curbs, cycles can traverse them but scooters can’t. I had to make a major diversion which doubled my journey time and made me very late for my appointment. A mobility scooter option would be great. Another potential problem is rough or unpaved pathways. So far I have been lucky but I am now wary and check out on google before taking a chance. Unpaved paths are also weather dependent and can be impassable to mobility scooters in wet weather. Specifying paved and unpaved would be very useful. Being able to create a route without internet access would also be very helpful, especially for creating a return journey. Several times I have needed a reverse route to get home but haven’t had an internet connection at my destination. Finally, it would be nice if the speed used to estimate journey times could be changed. I use both 4mph and 8mph scooters, one for bus journeys and one for others. It would be useful to be able to swap between them according to the one I am using, especially when catching a bus. These features would be worth upgrading to a subscription version.
Generally I love the app. It’s given me confidence to go anywhere and everywhere on my bike, but I have 1 problem. Directions often take me through parks, which in itself is not a problem, but park gates are often locked at dusk, which the app doesn’t seem to recognise. Sort it out CycleMaps.
I appreciate when an app doesn’t collect any data It’s important because there’s so many trips and there’s info there. So that makes you beautiful and respectful. I paid for thee no ads subscription and I would pay for whatever premium membership because you’re great. And I like the way that is explained through the trip. Easy and pretty. Thanks!!!
