macOS and iOS 13 bring us this marvellous Dark Mode. Dark Mode has many benefits. But there is a problem for PDF readers.
Most PDF files are black text on a white background, resembling a printed form of documents.
For eyes that get used to Dark Mode, such pages put a strain on them.
DarkPDF can help. It is available on both macOS (Catalina) and iOS. Buy it once, and use it on both platforms.
By altering the background from white to black, text from black to white, you can read PDFs in Dark Mode.
Even better, DarkPDF can also compress margins around the page, as well as blank spaces in the page so that more space can be used to render meaningful text.

DarkPDF FAQ
Is DarkPDF free?
Yes, DarkPDF is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is DarkPDF legit?
🤔 The DarkPDF app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Has worked fine through ~4 novels. Sometimes, especially when importing multiple PDFs at once, they fail to show in the app, but I can see them in the app's folder in File Explorer. I've yet to figure out a solution, and it now happens when importing single PDFs.
Just what I was looking for!
I have a pretty significant visual impairment. It is very difficult for me to read normal pages with black print and white background. I am still able to read in dark mode. This app is perfect for me. It is nice and bright, making it easily readable.
A Suggestion
I love this app but I have one suggestion, the compressing margins feature is great, but it would be even better to be able to make the text even larger by splitting up the page into different pages, the text is just uncomfortably small while reading on iPhone and zooming in and out is just a big hassle.
Buggy, too limited.
Because of this app I'll never try anything on the App Store that requires that I buy it first. Total waste of money.
1. Odd artifact at top of window. A fine line. Never goes away.
2. Uses dark mode, but no settings for text. Text is bright white to the point of distortion.
Almost perfect
Awesome app, could you add a feature to hide the ui with a tap? At least in landscape mode.
Thanks,
Ryan
Too dark and text is very bright
Still hurts my eyes . Should be an option to choose colors
Underrated!
This app helps me read PDF ebooks without eye strain.
The margin compression makes the text larger and easier to read.
The only complaint is that when you try to open a PDF stored directly on your device while disconnected from WiFi/LTE, it just shows a blank page. As soon as you connect to WiFi/LTE, the PDF opens. I assume this is due to “license checking”, but the app should be updated to allow opening PDFs while not connected to the internet. Sometimes people want to be able to read PDFs “on the go” while not near WiFi.
slow and sometimes does not switch to dark mode
disappointing
Pretty Good!
The app provides true dark mode which is all black screen with white text.
It also makes the text sharper
Save your money
I am looking at other apps to view pdfs in a dark mode. This just caused me frustration. After viewing one page, the app froze as well as the rest of my laptop. I was afraid the app came with some sort of virus!! Thankfully not. Just a crap app.
