Dear neighbor
Nice product
I got this app for the 17-year cicada event in Illinois in 2024. Cicadas were often high 80s. Very entertaining.
i love it exept for the fact that it does not go over 115 decibles…
Loud noises, including loud restaurants are painful to those with hearing loss. It might seem counterintuitive but recruitment (google an explanation ) is real, and often painful . I use the app whenever loud noises, constant background, is present. If the db reading is above 50 db I put in my Bose or Apple sound abating earbuds. This eliminates the pain from noise and again, counterintuitively helps me understand conversations. The buds abate the background, and conversation frequency becomes clearer. Directional hearing aids can help with understanding conversations but poorly diminishes the background noise .
My purpose was to get a sound level for engine exhaust systems. App gave a reading of 88 db while a high grade decimeter read 71 db. Aside from the quality of the decimeter, ~ 70 db is way more plausible for a car idling than 88 db. That’s a huge discrepancy. No indication of issues with the phone’s microphone.
Not really sure of the purpose for this app. Will probably eventually delete it.
Good
Useful but don’t know about accuracy
Just downloaded the app, the actual meter works fine but I went to the settings section and if you scroll up and hold your thumb, you can see two more settings available, but when you release they go hide behind some google ad so there's no way to ever click on those settings (examples and add a review of your ad) I am reviewing from the app store. ALSO every single time I open the app or go back to the app is asks me if I want to paste from Notes. No, I don't wanna paste from notes. I don't wanna paste from notes, I don't wanna paste from Notes, I don't wanna paste from Notes. I quit the Notes app and still it always asks me if I want to paste from Notes over and over and over again. I went to Safari and copied an url and then is asks me over and over and over and over and over and over and over if I want to paste from Safari. you shouldn't be forced to clear the clipboard just to use the dang app.
