Decibels Reviews

Quite good

Croc31 on

Easy to use and analog meter is an effective method for this purpose. However the strip recording is odd: nothing intuitive about this! It seems you can’t stop it, and there is no way to show when the record was made. The top left and right labels are virtually unreadable (for SELECT and DONE), and I don’t see how to annotate them. Am I operating it incorrectly I wonder?

Excellent

Nice and simple. The free version should be good enough for most users. I have it installed on my Watch for easy access when I’m working in a noisy environment and it gives an alert if sound levels reach an alarming level. Brilliant!

Elegant

Given an often gaudy choice of interfaces, this is definitely a case of Less is More. Simple and elegant. Being able to print an analogue strip is visually very effective. Would love a Decibels widget please!

Works well and it’s free

The app does exactly what you expect and it costs nothing for the basic db meter. I note also that it responds to ultrasonic frequencies (for example a pest repellent device) and shows the decibels accordingly.

Not accurate but

TrustMeListen on

United Kingdom

it’s definitely detecting small bits of sound but the microphones in iPhones aren’t really built for this so it’s not accurate - for example the average Decibels in a residential street is 40dB and it’s saying it’s 55-60 in my bedroom in the country in dead silence . But I guess it can still be used for context

Simple, effective

Great little app

Very Good.

It could do with peak / min level needles with some options on their damping to get the 5th star. Option to combine a photo is good. That would be great if it auto rotated the photo to respect the rotation of the device e.g. When using the phone "mic upwards"

full version is not provided after the purchase

I paid for the full version but didn't receive it. Still on the free edition.

Annoying

merch2001 on

I wanted to know how loud my speakers actually were when i played my music but all of these apps turn of the music as its playing from my phone. So i open the app and it mutes the sound i am trying to measure. I just want a app that measures how loud the sound is around me. I wanted to measure the volume Of my music so it decides to turn the music off! Very very annoying there should Be a option to leave the sound from the phone already on.

Very nice and useful

Perfect for measuring fairly constant noise or music. Updated: I like the new ability to take a picture of what you are measuring. Thanks! :-)
