Mixed Bag

It’s a good app. The audio is one of the best features by far, but the UI is not mobile friendly. It’s really clunky and limits productivity. It would be really nice if you could text input notes/octaves, if noise generators didn’t use some arbitrary value on the keyboard that takes forever, if you could navigate lists by tapping instead of whatever horrible dragging system they have right now, and the window clutter is really irritating. I’m definitely impressed by the number of options in terms of sound cards but DefleMask is a pain to use.

Good but needs 1 crucial change

I really absolutely love this tracker but the 1 thing that really annoys me is that there is only 1 octave that doesn’t make a full scale. Having the keyboard be able to change up to at least 3 or 4 octaves would be an absolute game changer in my opinion. It honestly annoys me how limited the keyboard is in software.

Relaunch app for portrait.

Great tracker but I bought this because it looked like it worked in portrait. I hate working on things with my phone sideways. I’ve toggle the orientation lock and it doesn’t go portrait mode. Very disappointing. Edit: the tutorial locks you into landscape. If you fully close the app and re-enter with your phone on portrait it should work.

I love Deflemask! I make covers of all different games.

If you want to get into tracker sequencing and utilize a few more brain cells than a lot of mobile DAW platforms require, DefleMask is a great place to start. This app over-delivers in (fun)ctionality because it makes up for any features (usually unnecessary bells & whistles) it may lack, in what I guess you could call reative efficiency. Everything you need is there so long as you’re willing to think critically and improvise when necessary. There is nothing to stop you from rolling up your sleeves and busting out a chiptune single or EP for SoundCloud or BandCamp or iTunes made exclusively with DefleMask. Have fun.

Struggling with Apple Official iPad Keyboard case

I want to like it, but there’s a big blocker right now: I’ve been using Ableton and Bitwig for years, so I know my way around DAWs and music production. and wanted to dive into the tracker workflow… But the Return Key on my iPad keyboard doesn’t work properly with DefleMask. (Seems like a double key press bug where it momentarily starts playing and then stops). Super frustrating to have to keep moving my hand off the keyboard to press the play button on the screen, kinda defeats the purpose of the Tracker workflow I have the official Apple Keyfolio case for iPad Pro. Messing around with touch-screen and everything seems great, but I really need keyboard support to work.

Great app! But be aware IOS & Mac apps are different!

Make sure you figure out if you want to use it on mobile or on the same machine as your SAW. I prefer to use a keyboard to play, cuz my fingers are just to fat for the little keyboard on my iPad Pro. Still a very powerful and great sounding tool.

GET IT! Nothing like Delflemask.

The only REAL video game music tracker that you will ever find. What's even better you ask? You can make it for multiple game consoles. NES, Genesis, C64 6581 AND 8580, and more. And most importantly, the quality is superb. What more can you ask for?
