This application is a digital companion for the Destinies board game.
Destinies is a competitive, story-driven, board game of adventure and exploration. You require the Destinies board game to be able to use this app.
Launch the app, select the scenario you want to play, and be introduced to a story of dark fantasy and destinies waiting to be fulfilled. The app will guide you on how to set up your board game including your character skills, starting items, and the map tiles laid before you waiting to be explored.
The app will introduce story-driven dynamic events and help to guide you through the ever-changing game world. The app also remembers the choices you make so there will be real consequences that often change the state of the game world forever.
Each item in the game has a unique QR code that, using the game’s Scan&Play technology, can be scanned to determine how you interact with the world, other characters, and epic challenges. Which items you scan and when will greatly affect the outcome of various interactions.
Your player character card also comes with two QR codes that can be scanned, each one representing a different possible destiny to fulfill and thus win the game.
Each scenario should last 120-150 minutes, and players will be able to choose from standalone scenarios or scenarios linked as part of a campaign.
Once the app and a scenario are downloaded, the app doesn't require any internet connection during gameplay. The language can be selected within the app. The app saves your progress so you may resume a scenario later on.

Destinies FAQ
Is Destinies free?
Yes, Destinies is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Destinies legit?
🤔 The Destinies app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I played with my bf and we had a great time! I thought everything was very well thought out. To preface, we are new in this kind of game play (both of us are beginners) it was easy to understand and very entertaining. It does leave no room for mistakes (scanning the wrong item, clicking the wrong button) but that didn’t bother us because it was our mistake not the game’s fault. Be aware that you should block out 2-3 hours to play and play to finish as you never know what can happen with saves on game apps. Not just on this game but many others have issues with saves. Overall we had a great time and are excited to bring this out on our next game night 🤩.
Can no longer play on my iPad mini 2 :(
This is exactly why people in the board game hobbies fear apps being integrated. Suddenly I can’t use the app anymore on my iPad mini 2 Because it requires an update that my software level won’t allow for. Grrrr!
Shouldn’t there be a way to just install the older version?
Stopped working on 2017 iPad Pro
This is what happens when you don’t hire native developers. Now I can’t play this board game that I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on without spending many times that on new hardware. Unacceptable.
Enjoyable Game, App Needs Some Tweaks
We've only played through the first scenario, but we had a great time. Overall, the game is well put together and has a unique skill system which we liked. The app does a good job of keeping track of turns and when to refresh dice. It also tracks what progress has been made towards certain quests.
Pros
- Game is very enjoyable.
- The game box has a place for everything and is exceptionally well designed.
- The game components are beautiful and the story is well crafted.
- All of the cons are minor in comparison to the enjoyment of playing. We would easily buy it again.
Cons
- I have a minor concern about a game being tied to an app since it becomes unplayable if the developer ever stops providing updates to the app.
- App needs some minor tweaks to make the game more playable. Top among them is the need for an "Undo" button. We encountered many times where we clicked on the wrong choice, missed reading some text, or did something that would have been easily remedied by going back one screen.
- It would be very helpful to manually save at any point rather than it saving at the week end only.
- The app does a poor job of letting you know that everything is successfully saved and giving you a top level option to get back into a game you started.
- If you stop part way through a game, you need to take pictures or write down all of the character statuses and board positions. It would be helpful if the app walked you through recording the state of the game when you want to pause and then walked you through setting it back up when you come back.
- Four player game can only be played in teams. While this was still fun, it seems odd to limit the full competitive version to only three players.
- It would be helpful to be able to toggle between the game mode and a map mode. This would let you review the map and it setup.
Great game, app could use improvements
There should be more attention given to this app by the board game publisher. There needs to be an undo action option, and the promised ability to make your own scenarios is a flat-out lie. The fan-created stuff is comically bad and broken in places. It would also be great to see map and event locations shuffled to some degree, but I don’t know if that will ever happen.
App is Not Working
I just bought the board game and tried to install the app, but there I received this error: “Essential files are missing. Enable the internet and restart the app”
I have tried on different devices and also checked different internet sources.
So I guess it’s useless!
How do I check my stats if I end the game early?
I like playing this game with the gf but we don’t have a lot of time to play. Can a feature be added where when you end the game, the cards that were given to each player and amount of coins and exp chits recorded and provided for another session? Thank you.
Wanna give 5 stars however major bug
The Doctor in the first storyline will freeze and cause the game to crash entirely. And lose memory. Unfortunately this happened repeatedly and cause our game to be set back then abit lost. It’s fun but this bug is problematic.
Hoping if it’s fixed to bump up my review
Solo challenge
Great game, fun needs an undo button, needs solo challenge to have a few more days to enjoy it, also it ask me after every game if in enjoyed it, which playing solo challenge can be annoying. But! Awesome concept, cool technology, great with multiple people.
Great Game, with a small Flaw
So far, I have been playing Destinies with my parents, and they are enjoying the gameplay just as much as I am. From a gameplay standpoint, I give the game an 8/10 on BoardGame Greek. The reason for my three-star review is due to how the automatic saves happen. The saves happening only at the start of each day have bitten me twice now. My phone either was acting strange while screen sharing to my parent's TV, which caused the game to close and then we had to restart at the start of day 5. This app would get an easy 5/5 from me if there were an automatic save after each person took their turn. This feature would eliminate the issue of a day being wholly reset due to an app issue or someone closing it.
Another cool feature for phone users would be to make a wifi-shared lobby so everyone can use their device.
