Dictionary German PREMIUM

Pons have produced a really good general dictionary for anyone wanting to read German. Apart from clear and complete definitions, it gives the pronunciation of all key words in audio-form. There are extensive and useful grammatical extras. However, its vocabulary is limited. Many technical and scientific terms are left out: and these are often found in the Collins German Dictionary, which is available at half the price of the Pons Premium. Better to use the Pons Advanced dictionary which is just as good.

This dictionary is probably OK, but doesn't seem to be as good as I was expecting for the price and in light of the description. Here are a few random words I checked: Tölpel - only the translation "fool" is given. Langenscheidt (Muret-Sanders eGroßwörterbuch - this may not be the same as the iPhone app) gives "dolt, oaf, clown, (clumsy) idiot", but most importantly also the second meaning of the word: gannet, booby. Pons Premium does include "gannet" in the English section, correctly translated as Tölpel, but to omit it from the German section is really not good enough for an app of this price which claims to be top of the range.. Schufa - the definition "German society for the securing of loans" does not really correctly describe the institution. Langenscheidt does better with: "organization collecting and providing information on creditworthiness, Am. etwa credit bureau" Schufa-Auskunft is translated more usefully as "Confidential information on a potential borrower's credit standing" Schufa-Selbstauskunft is not given. The Swiss word "Allfällig" is inexplicably translated as "necessary", even though "eventuell" is given in brackets. Vernehmlassung, another Swiss word, which is admittedly omitted by Langenscheidt, is given as "announcement". The far more common meaning of "consultation procedure" should have been given. The perhaps slightly obscure US term "copacetic" is not in the English section. However, I expect a really good bilingual dictionary to contain words I don't already know in both languages. These are only a few random examples, but the initial impression is closer to OK than excellent.

Generally an excellent application which over the past few days of use has shown itself to be comprehensive. I have not yet found a word in either language that it doesn't have. The flashcard quiz is very basic but actually is still useful, allowing me to highlight words for memorising. My only real gripe is that there are verb conjugation tables for English but not an equivalent for the german. I am reasonably skilled after thirty odd years of conjugating English verbs, but that crazy german language still confuses me at times! Would be nice to have the tables for german verbs.

Ich kann überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen, wie sich diese App Premium Wortschatz schimpfen kann. Fast alle Wörter, auf die ich bei meiner Englisch-Lektüre gestoßen sind, fehlen bei PONS; bspw. „pry bar“ (=Stemmeisen), „to field dress“ (= erlegtes Wild ausweiden), „sweat lodge“ (= Schwitzhütte). Ich bin absolut enttäuscht. Da bieten kostenlose Apps einen größeren Wortschatz.

Genau das Richtige, wenn man sich den Weg zum Bücherschrank oder unterwegs das Gewicht eines Wälzers ersparen möchte. Zur Suchfunktion: Wenn ich beispielsweise die Phrase „Best regards“ in einem gedruckten Buch nachsehen will, ist klar, dass ich unter „regards“ suchen muss und die Phrase dann auch dort finde. Bei einer App erwarte ich hingegen schon, dass die Suchfunktion mich bei der Eingabe von „Best regards“ direkt zu dem passenden Unterpunkt von „regards“ bringt. Da ist noch Luft nach oben.

zu wenige Updates , so wird zum Beispiel das IPhone X oder die neuen IPad Pros immer noch nicht unterstützt, bei dem Preis erwartet man doch etwas mehr Pflege der App. Die Aufmachung und der Umfang ist gut aber, wie gesagt es hat noch deutlich Luft nach oben Auch nach fast einem Jahr nach dieser Bewertung immer noch kein Update oder Anpassung an die neuen Geräte. Bei einem Preis von rund €50,- doch ein schlechter Service! Wenn es endlich mal aktualisiert wird, wären es volle Punkte! Nach nun sage und schreibe 2 Jahren immer noch kein Update auf die neuen Geräte, laut Feedback des Kundenservice arbeite man an einem Update, wieviele Jahre soll das denn noch dauern? UPDATE 23.07.20 nach einigen Jahren wurde die nun endlich auf die größeren Displays angepasst- nun ist die App perfekt !!!!

Supersorgfältig und gewissenhaft erstellte APP, die absolut jeden Cent wert ist. Benutze die App gern weil sie klar srukturiert, einfach zu bedienen, veilseitig und übersichtlich ist. Weil man sogar handschriftlich suchen kann ist die Verwendung auf Tabletts zusätzlich interessant. Bis hier her hatte ich die Bewertung schon mal abgeschickt. Da ich mir eben noch mal die Zusatzfunktionen wie zum Beispiel LernKarten angeschaut habe, bin ich so begeistert, dass ich dieses Programm einfach noch mal loben muss.

Für das soviel Geld fehlen zuviele Wörter!!

Es ist unmöglich, dass die App noch immer nicht auf Iphone X aktualisiert wurde. Für eine hochpreisige App kann man das als Nutzer doch verlangen, oder? Für die Funktionalität der letzten Jahre gerne alle Sterne, für die jetzige Unbrauchbarkeit nur Minussterne!

Wann kommt denn endlich das ios12 update, mich hat diese App mal über 50 eur gekostet und ex passiert nichts 😕 Seit iphone X ist hier rein gar nichts passiert. Die App wurde nie angepasst 🤥🤥🤥
