DirtRoad Reviews

It worked

I drove way too much tonight and had to DCFC to make it home. I was annoyed I had to sign up for an app to use the charger, but it worked as intended and I was able to make it home. I don’t know if dirt road owned the charger as well, but if they do I’m grateful to them for having it placed in a nice well lit parking ramp. The app definitely could use some polish, but if you need a charge it will see you through!

Location not working

Anrew127 on

When clicking location icon it does not work. I had to pinch and zoom in manually to find my charging location to initiate the charging session. Charging worked great once I was able to find the charging station in the app. App also does not list Toyota BZ4X as a model. Seems to only go up to model year 2022 for Toyota.

Charger Times out every hour

Nearly useless service. Had to constantly plug in the vehicle every hour on the hour. Even after signing up on the app correctly

Don’t Use!

I have canceled my subscription and closed my account, but I still receive monthly charges on my account, there is no way to get ahold of the company, as they are robbing me.

Extremely finicky, but worked eventually - pros and cons.

I usually don’t leave reviews on apps, but given that this app doesn’t have many and I’m passionate about the expansion of a strong EV charging infrastructure, I figured I should leave one. The good: - it was able to begin charging - station that I was at was quick (180kW max, 104kW actual) - ability to stop charging through the app The bad: - the forms during sign up didn’t allow for autofill (names, address, email, password, etc). - every time I added a payment method, it would tell me that there was a network error (error 8) and when I left the app and reopened it, the card was actually added. - finding stations was difficult and the numbers didn’t really have a meaning. I found out that at a certain zoom, the number indicated the number of stations, and then a closer zoom was the number of chargers. This is not intuitive. - I wasn’t able to find a “list” view of stations near me. Nor was I able to view stations near me. - when I found my charger and attempted to authenticate charging, it stated I didn’t have a payment method, even though I could see it in my list of payment methods. A workaround to this was going into my payment methods, enter editing view for the credit card, and then hitting save without making any changes. This seems to have sent a request to the server to indicate that I *did* have a payment method. - stopping the charge was difficult because the UI wasn’t responsive. I would try to “slide to stop” and it would instantly throw an error and send me back to the map screen. - unlike EVgo, ChargePoint, and Electrify America, I am unable to view charging speeds through the app. - pressing on the charging vehicle icon on the top right didn’t do anything. I would have to check my Hyundai Bluelink app to get the status of the battery charge. Overall, setting up the app itself took around 15-20 minutes and the charge took 14 minutes to go from 47% to 79%. I wish the app was better. It definitely needs improvement and I believe it can be as awesome as the chargers are. I believe in you guys! As of today, I can only provide 2/5 and this user feedback to help improve the overall charging experience.

Less than 20 charging stations nationwide?

The map seems to indicate that there are fewer than 20 charging stations nationwide. Either the map is incorrect or it’s taking many years to build out your network.
