Description

Do you know how to read your dog’s body language? Do you understand when he tries to tell you he’s stressed, or submissive, or ready for fun-time? Can you tell the difference between excitement and fear, or between aggression and the need to play?

Dog language can be confusing, but with the help of Dog Decoder, you’ll understand your dog’s signals like a pro.

Dog Decoder will teach you everything you need to know about how your dog communicates, so you can not only avoid bites, but share in a more satisfying, healthy, and loving relationship.

=== MEET “DIAMOND” ===

Diamond is your tour guide and trainer. He will show you how he looks when he’s afraid, when he’s stressed, when he’s just about to bite, and when he wants to play.

=== DOG POSTURES ===

There are about SIXTY different poses on display in Dog Decoder. Each pose is beautifully and expressively illustrated by one of the world’s top dog artists.

Each pose comes with a diagram, pointing out where on Diamond’s body he’s indicating how he’s feeling. For example, in the poses for “fear,” the diagram will point out Diamond’s tucked tail, his ears pulled back, etc. We won’t just show you a picture of a scared dog — we’ll teach you what to look for, the signs of fear.

Each pose also comes with a helpful description of the context. This is where you will learn about some common misconceptions, or what kinds of situations will cause your dog to assume each posture.

=== TEST YOURSELF! ===

The best way to see how much you’ve learned is to take the quiz! Some of the quiz questions are pretty challenging. Diamond wants to make sure you don’t get fooled next time he’s hiding under the coffee table or drooling – will you recognize the early warning signs of stress? Will you be able to warn your children when your dog is clearly done playing?

Dog Decoder Reviews

Good content but far too glitchy

LeiaKokiTamou on

United States

I’m finding the content useful user-friendly, but the glitches are maddening, bordering on unusable. It won’t let me look at more than one or two poses before glitching - content is slow to refresh, but even if you wait for all the icon images to load on the screen there’s no guarantee that when you click on a body language or greeting option you won’t be faced with a blank screen—one that not only never loads, but doesn’t allow you to return to the menu screen. The only way to select another option is to close the app and reopen it. Every single time you want to select a new option to learn about.

Super buggy, keeps freezing/crashing

I have to delete and reinstall the app every time I want to move from one description to the next

I was expecting this to have more useful info. This is all fairly obvious dog body language

Want to like but some issues.

I purchased this app after reading an article by the app author that I that was really helpful. Unfortunately, the app does not load images or descriptions for all of the entries. I’m frustrated that I paid $3.99 and it does not do what it claims to do. Please update the app or refund purchases.

Dog Listening

ShaydaRi on

As a professional dog trainer I recommend this app to people all the time. As humans that choose to bring dogs into our lives we should learn as much about what our dogs are saying as possible to improve everyone’s quality of life. This app lets you discover some often overlooked body language that dogs use to communicate with us. The breakdowns of every signal are well explained and the illustrations by Lili Chin are easy to relate to & remember.

Must Have for Pet Owners

@pilotjulianj on

I work in rescue and have learned so much about reading dogs’ body language from this app. If more people were better equipped to handle their pets with this level of awareness, there would be more pets in homes! So worth it.

Not much info

APWachimom on

The info is all very basic, if you’ve spent even a small amount of time around dogs. Definitely not worth 5 bucks, I got all I needed from it in about 5 minutes.

Great App to teach people and children

Pawdiator on

United States

400,000 children are sent to the ER because people don’t recognize the dog’s warning and stress signals. As holistic dog trainer and behaviorist, it’s my priority to help people better communicate with their dog’s. This app is what I recommend to my clients to test their skills and teach their children. The quiz is a great way to learn safely and build a strong family bond with their dog.

Great on the go resource!
