Customer support could have been more ‘up front’.

I rang customer support to ask some questions about the device and informing them that the reason for my interest was because I’d lost (but eventually recovered) my 18 month French Bulldog the previous day, who’d decided to chase after a deer. Following the conversation, I decided to buy online. I paid £75 (give or take) for the tracker and some additional bells and whistles and sat back expecting delivery to be fairly quick. A few days later I received an email to say I’d have to wait 7 to 10 working days longer for receipt of the device due to Covid and social distancing issues. I was obviously disappointed to receive this message, especially after having spoke to them as I felt ethically, they should have pre-warned me that there would be an approximate two week delay (in total) before receipt. Because I’d experienced a loss and the subsequent stress before eventual recovery, I was naturally not really wanting to wait upwards of two weeks before I felt I could endure (hopefully) a less stressful walk with my dog. I very nearly decided to cancel, but let it go because I have to accept 50% of any blame, because I made an assumption and I should have asked. Of course I may be being overly cynical in my old age, but I couldn’t help thinking that I wasn’t told about the delay, because I may very well have contacted a different company. I confess, I also found it strange that they apparently didn’t have even one unit with some spare accoutrements to send me, clearly their warehouse ‘seems’ to be bare and without a single unit in stock. I'm hoping I’ll write an extremely complimentary review about their product (when I receive it) but for the time being, I felt a review of their customer service warranted a comment all to itself. The benefit being, that anyone reading this and contemplating a purchase will not, like me, assume the product is on the shelf ready for dispatch and will instead ask that important question and make a more enlightened decision whether to proceed with a purchase after hearing the answer.

Nano is a brilliant tracker with exceptional customer care. However their lack of investment into a update for their app is now causing issues, and we are thinking of cancellation of our plan. Developer: you need to update and support your app with no more excuses.

It is literally a life-saver, I can’t recommend it enough. I originally bought the Findster as there was no annual subscription, but it was a nightmare, although maybe they’ve now improved it. Our signal’s not great in the country, but the lovely customer service people (they know me well!) can put your dog’s collar on their screen (keep your ID no.handy) and can explain where your dog is. That is just invaluable. Totally wonderful. (Except not at weekends). Ok, the charger system’s a bit fiddly and I wish the charge lasted longer (you MUST charge it every night) and we wouldn’t mind if it was a bit bulkier if that would help. It’s been through brambles, rivers and survived well. Yes, I thoroughly recommend!

Since they did a system update, this product has become BRILLIANT. The Dog tracker gives us so much peace of mind. It’d been great for the few times we’ve needed it. Customer service is excellent if we have a glitch

We bought this specifically to alert us if our sighthounds left our land. The alert does not work and despite messaging the company all we get back is “we are working on it” very disappointing and a total waste of money.

Maps no longer work on IPhone IOS 13.2

Was working well for 2 years, but since my iPhone has updated to IOS13.2, there are no maps on the app. Phoned the Nano dog tracker help line - they say they are trying to fix with Apple. But this fault has been going on for weeks. When will they fix it.

Since using this DogTracker nano I do have a few issues, the first is that it constantly needs charging even though my chocolate lab is 11 months and walks are around 1 hour per day, secondly what a ridiculously fiddly way of charging the device and thirdly, the instructions advise that the antenna should be secured flat to the collar, I have tried black tape which then becomes ripped and tatty with use, and have now resorted to securing it with elastic bands. These are in my view serious design faults. I did not pay this kind of money to use elastic bands. Also the app seems to work better on my partner’s phone in that he receives alerts before me that the battery is low. I am using an IPhone 7 and he has a Samsung. Unfortunately I have paid a year’s subscription up front.

I have two of these and do find them excellent when they work. However the app on an I phone 7 keeps failing and sometime opens and closes immediately. The only way round this is to delete then re install the app.it is also frustrating when it takes so long to find your location Customer service is good during the week but not available at weekends which is annoying. On the whole I will give only three stars because of the issues above and considering the cost of the device.
