This really is a great app for mandarin learners and i’m very pleased with it. But i’ve been facing some issues lately when using it. The articles i’m reading disappeared when i hit the back icon and i couldn’t find it anywhere. Please kindly fix it. Thank you.
I loved this app before the recent update. The new limitations to stories read, though frustrating, would be ok if it worked. However there is a bug where if you leave the story and go back in the same story, that counts as two stories being read, and you’ll be locked out of it. When I was at the end of HSK 2 there were also these exercises where you had to answer questions, and they were so difficult to answer correctly. There were moments where I wrote the exact sentence from the story or recommended sentence and it not only didn’t work, it takes up to 30 seconds to tell you that what you wrote was wrong. I was close to paying for this app, but these bugs make it frustrating to use. I’ll be using Du Chinese as a reader now since I’m not taking the HSK anyway.
The app doesn’t load at all, when i log in, the only thing i get is just the bear scree and it just stays like that. Just doesn’t work. And also kicks me out pf my login every time i open app. Awful
Great app. Developers are clearly very active in updating the app. The illustrations are a new thing which I don’t think are useful. It does not enhance our Chinese learning experience to see a drawing and an English word. Would love an option for lifetime subscription to access the premium features.
This app is really solid for helping you learn mandarin Chinese, especially with stroke order! I’m taking a college elementary mandarin class currently and wanted to find apps to help give me a leg up on the homework, tests and quizzes and this has definitely helped! When I first downloaded the app it didn’t work and I left a review saying so. Shortly afterwards the developers responded to my review and suggested certain things for me to do to get it to open and that they had fixed it and sure enough they had! Things I love about this app: - Stroke order learning! - Stories that include the vocabulary - Ability to select what you want to work on (i.e., listening, reading, or writing) Things I think could be improved: - Speaking exercises. I know the app says it’s being developed but this would really round out the app - More vibrant colors. The colors aren’t bad, but I feel like a wider variation in colors, backgrounds or something similar during exercises and practice lessons could give this app a very eye appealing look it it’s users - Pictures to help remember words. There is another app I use for learning mandarin which provides some illustrations of the characters to help one remember them better. It’s not a make or break, but it is something I've found helpful in remembering certain characters. Overall, this is a really great resource for learning mandarin and from my experience with it I highly recommend it for mandarin learners!
I have been using this app for 485 days and the new update has ruined it for me. The features I have used for free for over a year have now been placed under a paywall with no option of a ads-based service. I’ve used this app to practice drawing hanzi for so long as it was a useful feature, and now I cannot do that at all. Don’t update if you want to still have access to the features that matter.
After the last update I cannot open the app! It was a good app though
The UI is great. There is a dictionary that shows stroke order, and links to lessons where you can see the word in context. It also breaks down the words into characters and radicals, and shows similar words, all of which are linked. I enjoy reading the new story lessons, and practicing the content from the story. The character writing practice really helps me remember them and even draw them by memory. There are new stories all the time. The app is relaxing and rewarding. I don’t usually leave reviews because it’s tedious. However, this app has NEVER made me watch an ad, so even after taking time to leave a review I feel that my time has not been wasted. I’m also leaving a review because this is a free app and there are no ads. This is unheard of honestly and I don’t know how they paid the developers and fees, so I just wanted to show appreciation.
I’ve been using this app for over 400 days now, and I really enjoy it. I’m a casual Mandarin learner and it’s really helped me to improve my reading skills and 汉字 writing skills. It is completely free, which I really appreciate. The app makes it easy to self study because each character is labelled with its HSK level, and the reading lessons begin with HSK 1. Overall, it id a wonderful app that I use daily to supplement my other Chinese resources. The one thing I would love to see added, though, is a way to practice the tones for each character. The tones are presented with the pinyin sounds, and I think that having a way to practice inputting the correct tone during flashcard reviews would help me solidify which tones are used for each word. The current system makes it easy to forget about the tones if you know the general pinyin sounds, and I feel like I haven’t been learning the tones nearly as well as the other aspects. Just a suggestion though for improvement!!
