The Doyle Guides mobile app allows users to search our comprehensive 3000+ point of interest database with results shown based on distance from the user and displayed on an interactive satellite map where users can leave public comments as well as suggest corrections and new points of interest, all free of charge. Subscriptions to guide book content is available on both long and short term basis, as well as bundled by island.

Stranded without content

So far, we’re not impressed. We subscribed before our trip but the content was blocked after the trial expired yesterday even though the Apple ID shows us subscribed and active. We are now hours from starting our charter with no access. We would have purchased the hard copy but it is unavailable everywhere. No doubt this is to sell app subscriptions. We have 2 other Doyle guide books which have good content but the app idea is terrible if it can’t be accessed easily.

Much faith required to spend $40 on unknown…

Virtually all meaningful content requires an upfront subscription ($40). There are only 4 prior reviews, none of which I can access. So all in all, hard for me to decide to subscribe w/o more assessment.
