Limited access to features on some phones is caused by manufacturers’ restrictions. All iOS phones, for example, prohibit app access to Wi-Fi, so only Bluetooth data transmission will work (if and only the drone has an active Remote ID over Bluetooth). It is not a flaw of our app; we cannot fix this, and we don’t deserve negative reviews for these issues.
_____
Transform your phone or tablet into a drone scanner and track all the nearby flights over Direct / Broadcast Remote ID standards. Browse real-time data about drones on a detailed map highlighting specific flying space zones. Download Drone Scanner for free and discover what drones fly above your head.
Favourite features:
- Discover more about drones flying nearby in real-time
- Examine detailed information broadcasted by drones via Bluetooth 4, Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi Beacon, and Wi-Fi NAN
- Browse a detailed map with your location and all nearby aircraft
- Check available data about drones, including real-time height, direction, pilot identification, pilot position, operation description, and location history
- Various flying zones marked and highlighted on the map
- Easy export of collected data
- Continuously updated to reflect the latest EU & US regulations
All these features you find in Drone Scanner – a free app for tracking drones. The app is developed by Dronetag, manufacturing devices for remote drone identification.
How it works:
Anyone can quickly identify what drones are flying in the sky nearby. Direct Remote ID is a feature that transmits live flight data via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to the surrounding area. Drone manufacturers use various technologies to build an identification feature in new drones. Older drone pilots use add-on devices, enabling them to become digitally visible. With hardware on your smartphone, Drone Scanner can receive and read broadcasted data.

Unfortunately this app does not work on iPhone 13. Hopefully it will soon. It is a good app so hopefully it will work soon.

Just does not work

Have M3e and M3, both with remote I’d turned on; neither show up on any Apple device in this app

Doesn’t work on iOS

Although it might not be the developer’s fault, Apple won’t allow the app to receive WiFi- rendering the app completely useless for iPhone users. It should be removed from the App Store until such time that iOS allows Drone Scanner access to WiFi.

Great

Will become more useful as remote is becomes more popular

Junk!

SouthrnGuy on

The iOS version of this app does NOT work. My iPad can see the RID info in the Wi-Fi settings, but the app sees nothing.

Doesn’t work with WiFi & iOS

I understand Apple controls the hardware functionality and is the reason WiFi doesn’t work with your app. However, that limitation shouldn’t buried in a help file. If you are going to offer this App on iOS, that limitation should be prominently displayed on the download page. I wasted an hour searching the internet and finally found the reason on your app’s help page.

Worthless to offer on App Store

Should be zero stars as it doesn’t matter if Apple won’t completely redo their software so their WiFi protocol can be used. You should not even offer it here in the Apple Store when you know it doesn’t work. It would be no different than offering a game which won’t work on any Apple device or Google store offering an app which won’t work with Android OS. Seems like common sense to remove this app and only submit it to Apple for approval if they ever redo their software to work.

Doesn’t work!

I have the app opened next to my drone with Remote ID enabled. Wireless and Bluetooth are working but still no recognition of the drone.

Simply does not work

ka2vuw on

This app does not pick up remote id transmissions. I have tested it with my drone which is actively transmitting remote id.

Works

Drones are under the FAA therefore the access to information is the same. Don’t invade people’s privacy if you don’t want to be identified.
