DS note FAQ
Is DS note free?
Yes, DS note is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is DS note legit?
🤔 The DS note app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I love this app… or did. It’s like all the other Synology apps - sounds amazing but half baked and little updated. The NAS and DSM software are incredible but the client apps leave me sure that when I replace my trusty NAS, that it will be from their most reputable competitor (we all know who!)
Can’t use it
Of what I’ve seen it seems to be quite good but unfortunately I can’t use it. The toolbar in the editor is so far down at the bottom of the screen every time I click an icon my phone wants to take me home because it’s interfering with the home gesture. That’s all I can do is name the title of the note.
Need improvement
To be a good App it would need to be practical and useful. Sadly this App isn’t. Yes, you can write down some text and format it, and then add some pictures. And the design of the App isn’t bad either. But I struggle to find a usefulness in this App when there so many great ‘Note’ app’s around.
Please improve text formatting. If I were to copy from a word document to DS notes and then read on my Synology the formatting goes crazy, and I would have to spend time reformatting the text.
Please can we have sub notes like you can in OneNote…..In fact, look at OneNote. It isn’t perfect, but it is far more practical and useful the DS notes.
Really simple to use!
I really like this app. I find most note apps to be far too over complicated, however DS Note just does what it needs to do. My family use it to make our weekly shopping lists. We can all be shared on one list together and tick boxes can be added to a note to make it easier to tick off while we shop!
Shared notes do not sync
I have discovered that when a note is shared and has a checklist, the body of the task is synched but not the checklist. This is a pretty poor oversight that really should have been picked up in testing.
Sync unsuccessful when using quick connect
Imagine you are in a situation of checking a shopping list note in a shop when the app failed to connect. You are trying to reconnect the app over and over again when standing in the middle of the shop until the shop is closed and you are still trying to sync the app. Imagine you are in the queue and need to check a security code to complete the check out but the app failed to connect and you are blocking the queue because the app takes forever to sync…..why on earth this app even exist?
Too buggy
After a day if being synced you get a error constantly saying syncing unsuccessful. Doesn't say why or give any helpful info. Only way to fix is to unlink and relink which is a massive inconvenience
Improvements must
Could be very useful and good app just need little more work to be done.
For instance, one can not edit note created in shared folder by the same user. Just no such option. Another - Tables in notes - need serious improvement, so bad editing options, glitchy and can’t figure out how to properly edit them. Also, If one has shared folder and there is edit rights for another user, that user can not drop their note into shared folder. Would love to use notes in my company, I see potential but at the moment - weak sauce.
So good I dropped 3 other notes app I used
I have tried and used a good number of notes apps over the years and I can say this app is So good that I dropped 3 other notes app I used.
Even better
At last, Touch ID support. The best just got better ...
