Dystopia for Reddit Reviews
functional enough with no ads or bloat unlike official reddit
honestly after apollo was ripped from us this the only thing keeping me using reddit. those demanding features understand this is meant for accessibility purposes which is why its not shut down by reddit. do not let reddit harvest your data with their official client. dystopia respects your privacy much more
Up yours, Spez.
There aren’t any ads and it’s the next best thing to Apollo. This should work until Reddit starts charging these guys the rate that killed Apollo.
Lacks so many features
Too many features that you wills expect to be in an app are missing:
- can’t go to a thread from your profile by simply clicking on it or through options.
- audio follows the button switch on your phone, so you need to switch your phone off silent to hear videos.
- clicking all or front page sometimes just doesn’t work and freezes the app
- zero visual separation of anything, it all is so jumbled together it’s hard to see why this is for the visually impaired
- can’t touch scroll through most videos
That’s just off the top my head. Not a fan of this app at all and I’m unsure how this is app is beneficial/ designed for visually impaired individuals.
Good Reddit Client
Minimal, fast, I’d like some additional customization for the swipe gestures and settings for media playback but other than that it’s a great app.
Best Reddit Alternative App
This is, in my opinion, the best alternative Reddit app available after the recent api changes shut down many others. This app offers a minimalistic interface, no advertisements, and impressive accessibility options. I’m very happy to have found it and if a premium option becomes available in the future, you can be sure I’ll be purchasing it!
Fantastic app
I swapped to Dystopia when Reddit started to kill third-party apps. This doesn’t have all of the features of the official app, or the pre-IPO unofficial apps, but it runs about ten times faster and is incredibly simple to use. There is so much potential for this app. So much. I really want to see this app flourish and supersede the poor experience the Reddit IPO gives to mobile users. Please make it happen.
Issues clicking links
Links to reddit in comments and posts that are reddit links fail to open, throwing 404. Other times, reddit links will open in safari. Rather annoying.
Not working in iPhone 15
Was a good app on previous phone. Now getting error: “The data could not be read because it isn’t in the correct format.” Nonfunctional.
Missing key features
No popular, no multireddit, no favorite subs, no updates! Weird whirring/cricket sound when viewing news articles in app.
404 errors
Nice, lightweight client with no ads/in app purchases. Only issue is when there’s a link to Reddit content within a comment I can’t open it because it just gives a 404 error. Would be nice if there was at least a way to copy the link so I could open it in my browser.
