Eargo Neo HiFi FAQ
Is Eargo Neo HiFi free?
Yes, Eargo Neo HiFi is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Eargo Neo HiFi legit?
⚠️ The Eargo Neo HiFi app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Died within 3 months and had to send them in. Had to send them back twice in the first year. They quit working in month 15 and I was told I needed to pay $250 per unit to get them serviced. One turns on but amplifies nothing and the other doesn’t even turn on. I had followed the maintenance prompts to the T but they still failed. Epic waste of money.
App rating
The app is great. I wish it had a diagnostic function to tell if there is an issue with your device. I have had some issues with my devices but customer service has been excellent!
Watch out!! Doesn’t work! Can’t uninstall!!
I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max, running latest software 14.4.2. This software will not let me connect to the charger. I tried deleting it and reinstalling... I deleted it on screen, performed a “hard reboot” and when phone restarts Eargo app is STILL THERE on my phone with a different icon and the app will not open and the App Store thinks it is still installed. So basically it’s on my phone forever now, but NONFUNCTIONAL. I like the hearing aids but not being able to adjust them is non-acceptable, if this is not resolved, I will be returning the hearing aids.
Masks and Eargo’s
I love these aids. There aren’t a lot of bells and whistles, but plenty for me. I had Phonak behind the ear. They did not work well with masks and sports.
I find Eargo’s perfect for these situations. They’re probably not for all, but a perfect solution for me. The audiologist are extremely helpful and they program online.
Oh by the way, there ad is hilarious and the reason I looked into them.
Nice App
It’s a functional app that allows connection to the Web app that their professionals have access to. Not bad.
App does NOT work
Trying to get help thru app or on website is like trying to play pool with rope!! IMPOSSIBLE!! Example: their website chat bot said they were AWAY, back in 30 min!!
A bot??!! Away??!!
Disappointed
I would love to figure out how to adjust the sound in my devices, but the charger can NEVER be found either in Bluetooth or through the app itself. So frustrating.
A fair start but needs improvement
After purchasing their new Neo HiFi I was excited to try this app. When I used it the first time I changed profile 2 for TV and boosted the treble where my ears need the most help. I was slightly disappointed to find that the treble was not a true slider and only allowed max, min, or standard. Set it max, but when I used profile 2 it was too high and feedback made it unusable. Going back into the app, it would not allow readjusting only turning off the profile. I had to delete the app, tell Bluetooth to forget the Eargo link, and then reinstall the app. A fair start,
but it needs to be improved.
Breaking News! Bass and Treble control now available!
I believe this app is misunderstood as to what it can, or cannot do. Eargo designed it to primarily place all the user information in one easy to access location, including FAQs, how-to videos, the 84 page user’s guide, the Eargo Store for spare parts, and Programs.
The Programs section is the only feature of the app that is interactive, and only TWO actions can be done: 1) Once the charger is paired with your device via the app, you can select or deselect any of the four preset programs. 2) You can ask Eargo to send a custom program (example, more bass and less treble) to your app, which will download to your charger. New custom programs will replace the original four presets.
These two actions are the extent of interactivity on this app. Deselecting some programs can be useful if, for example, you are going to a very loud rock concert. If none are deselected, the air pressure from loud bass and drums can inadvertently push the programs up through levels 2, 3 and 4, making it very loud and uncomfortable.
Some reviewers seem to believe that custom programs can be designed and developed by the user. As far as I can tell, any new custom program has to be sent to you by Eargo, and downloaded to your charger. This would allow you to have up to four custom programs, replacing all the presets.
I’ve rated this app 4 stars because it’s a quick and easy way to access all the user information. If anything I’ve reported is inaccurate or just plain wrong, please write a review and let me know.
Breaking News! Just yesterday this app was upgraded to allow you to adjust the bass and treble on both or each ear, and on one or all of the four preset programs. I’ll give it a try and see if I should change my 4 star rating of this app.
It’s unfortunate that this app doesn’t have a comment feature. To comment, you have to revise your original review and post it again. Just to let everyone know that a few days ago on 1/24/20, Eargo upgraded this app to add bass and treble control to each or both ears, and on all four programs. The adjustments are very basic...either + or -, nothing in between.
The App is the Achilles heel
Pro’s:
The Eargo itself is a creative design and I give them full credit and respect for this.
Con’s:
The unfortunate Achilles heel to the successful use of the EarGo’s is the pre-set programs and the App. The programs are a set of four volume controls no matter what they say about customizing to environmental sounds.
Also, the App does nothing more than what the EarGo does. Zero self fine-tuning to meet each person’s personal hearing issues and voice tones (which effects your voice sounding like you are speaking to yourself via a smartphone inside your head or not).
Recommendation:
Don’t buy them yet. Wait until they add a “bass and treble” control (for lack of a better description) on the App. Then it will be a winning product. Btw - I returned mine and will buy again as soon as this feature is available (which btw seems like a reasonable ask since the “bass and treble” technology has been since the 1950’s??).
Lastly, if Eargo responds pointing out any of my comments are incorrect, I am just my real life experiences trying everything to make them work. I would prefer for Eargo to put their energies into adding this feature, clarifying this in their advertising and to their customers, and provide the feature so many others have asked for in the reviews online on multiple websites.
