I have to work with CSV files from more sources than I can count in preparing bulk mailings. There's nothing else like it, and there's nothing like it anywhere other than the Mac. I've used this for every kind of analysis, troubleshooting, data cleaning, database hacking—everything you can imagine a CSV can be used for. This program chews through massive files like no other. There are NO unexpected gotchas such as spreadsheet programs can present when they make assumptions about data types and conversion. If I could give this six stars, I'd give it another just for the ease of using the Transpose command on enormous data files. Yes, you have to wait for a gigabyte to be transposed, but you'll get a progress report and it WILL get done. And can you believe it? Scripting! Command-line integration! And then go buy their counterparts for JSON and PLISTs in the "Essential Editors Bundle."
I like this editor and it's basiclly simple in look and feel and performant on opening files with plenty of options in one go.
Often lugging. For example, if I am trying to open a txt file that is formatted in a wrong way, app cannot be closed (the system makes sound like if there is a pop up window somwhere, but I do not see this window). The only way for me then is to close the app via Activity Monitor (Force quit).
I've been using NotePad and CsvQuery which was a step up from working with a CSV in a text editor or Excel (cough). Using a Mac at work, I found this application and I immediately wondered where this app has been all my CSV life! The summary and frequency information alone is worth the price for me. I wanted to take a moment and describe how pleased I am with this application.
I use this tool all the time for thinking through small datasets. It gives me the ability to quickly gather and then filter data in a very clean, open, and readable file format. I use it every day and highly recommend it.
Need to add the ability to use more than one delimiter. I have files that are #@ delimited, but I can only select one custom delimiter.
Really good piece of software. Does what is meant to do really efficiently. You con open and edit files with thousands and thousands of rows without a problem.
It's a very well designed, useful app for editing CSV files. It has many useful functions, it's nice to look at, and quick. It is updated regularly with helpful features and fixes.
Works very well with huge files, "Explore" and "Filter" features are very useful
