Description

Search the web. Plant trees. Power the planet.
Ecosia is more than just a search engine — it’s a simple way to take climate action every day. Just by browsing the internet, you can help plant trees in biodiversity hotspots, support local communities, and combat climate change.
Search with purpose: Like other search engines, Ecosia earns money from ads. But unlike them, we use 100% of our profits to fund climate action. Over 230 million trees have already been planted across 35+ countries, restoring landscapes and saving wildlife.
Your data stays yours: We only collect what's needed to deliver search results, and your searches are always encrypted. — We want trees, not your data.
Powered by the Sun: Ecosia runs on renewable energy. In fact, our solar plants generate twice the electricity we need to power your searches — pushing out fossil fuels from the electricity grid.
Climate positive & transparent: As a not-for-profit, steward-owned company, we publish monthly financial reports that show you exactly where your clicks go — toward real, measurable climate impact.
Download Ecosia and join a global community of millions taking meaningful action for the planet, one search at a time.

New update

Chongyun Wanter on

My tabs won't open and it would only show a blank screen unless I click on the "search or enter address" please fix it

It erases my account & data.

My impact status said I've already planted 3 trees. But today when I opened the app, it went back to 0. All my bookmarks, shortcuts, and downloads are gone. I never once deleted the app after I downloaded it onto my iPad. But now I'm back to square one with important data missing. This is NOT THE FIRST TIME this happened. Please fix this, team Ecosia! I love this app and its cause. Even if this happened again, I will still use this as my search engine. But it would be so much better if this problem is fixed.

I use ecosia so i can contribute something meaningful while doing this everyday miniscule task of searching, but it’s like ecosia is trying to scare users away. first, the search results are nowhere near as smart as google’s and that really is a let-down for me as a student. second, i wish that every time i open the ecosia app it doesn’t open up a new tab for me, and hide the tab i was literally just using. it’s SUCH a waste of space, and it’s annoying. at least make a setting for this. third, the design is quite poor. it may seem like a shallow thing to point out, but if ecosia wants users to actually use this app permanently, then these are decisions that need to be thought through.

•"Hello! I just wanted to say, that this app is good and hopefully it works well. I haven't checked any ecosia website showing the charity, or any donation box like that. But I do hope Ecosia will grow, and help clean and grow our Environment 🌱💚!"•

it’s okay

rjsh_c on

Philippines

It’s an okay browser, a little slow but workable. The interface is old school and sometimes it lags. I don’t usually use my mobile browsers since i don’t search much on search engines, I used the browser for reading articles and news and I encountered some bugs where I had to restart the browser for it to work again. I’m not overly sensitive with freezing pages, it’s fine for me but idk with others.

Download feature

Redthr on

Philippines

Please add a feature so we can download files in the web like .mp4, .mp3, .mkv etc.Just like in safari there’s a feature like that so we can download for example videos on youtube and especially me because I love downloading torrent videos.
