EG Pulse

AU3 Drum Machine & Sampler

Published by: Elliott Garage

Description

EG Pulse is the ultimate Drum Machine / Sampler for iOS.
It can be used both in standalone or hosted as AudioUnit AU3 inside apps like GarageBand, AUM, BeatMaker3, NanoStudio2, n-Track9 and others.
The solid ElliottGarage sequencing engine has been updated and expanded, and you can now create ultra precise trap rhythms, hip hop grooves, electronic beats, rock and acoustic drum tracks and more.
EG Pulse comes with more than 40 drumkits and more than 180 grooves already included to cover many different genres from EDM, House, Trap, Hip Hop and Electronic Music to Rock, Metal, Reggae or Jazz; moreover, you can create your custom drumkit importing samples with simple drag & drop or combining the builtin kits, and you can modify them inside the app with the sample editor (sample start, attack time, release time and sample length).
Each of the 16 pads can be also pitched and panned in the mixer section of the app and also reverb, delay, bitcrusher and eq can be set individually.
Each pattern can be automated to obtain dynamic changes and with the probability mode you can create always new grooves adding randomization and human feel to them.
EG Pulse contains drumkits and presets created by some of the best iOS Beat Makers and Producers like SoundOfIzrael, Soundtrack Loops, the Beat Community and more.

EG Pulse Reviews

No MIDI

Spo0ky1971 on

Well, it's official I found the best drum sequencer I've ever used. There are a few things wrong with it, but it's been fixed with this update. I just reached out to the developer, and there it was, the fix. I just wish every other app had support like this, five stars!

Edit slice location

01 Blunt on

United States

Can we have more control over editing our slices . Having control over the starting and end time rather than using our fingers. I’m using cell phone version. I have know idea how it works on the tablet version.

Good but limited to 1 bar patterns

Justin032 on

United States

This app would be a home run if it allowed for at least 2 bar and preferably 4 bar patterns. There are workarounds, like song mode, but that is a bit clunky. For all the effort and polish that went into this app the lack of multiple bar patterns is somewhat mystifying especially considering how elegantly this works on Koala sampler for years now.

So NOT Intuitive

eVio-4-Jesus on

United States

There is so much possible with the app; but it's soOOOOoo frustrating the interface is TERRIBLE. Rather than use interface components iPad and Mac users are familiar with, he reinvented the wheel (perhaps to safe screen real estate). There a HUG learning curve with what should be a mostly intuitive drum pad. A few examples: Doesn't support CMD+C or CMD+V. There's not an undo (CMD+Z). The grid for creating which pads play when, can not be zoomed with 2 fingers (like many apps support). There's only 16 pads per drum kit; when you think of even a snare which could have different sounds itself (with springs, without springs, rimshot) - you realize it could have been better thought out. There are some good things: There's a multi-output version. You can load your own wave files for each pad. IF you're looking for a drum machine patterned after the old physical devices (pun intended) - where you get up and running quickly :: THIS ISN'T IT. IF you have hours and hours to figure out how things work. This may be for you.

Custom Kits Don't Work

Bryon Evans on

United States

No matter what sample I tap on, in a list of samples within a kit, it gives me a random sample. For example, tapping on "kick" loads a cowbell, the next time it tapping kick loads a snare, the next time tapping kick loads a clap. It's like this with all kits and in all banks. Whether working in my bank or one of the built in kits. This is base functionality, not advanced, and it should be dead simple and functional but it is not. Also, the fact that the app has no means of submitting feedback or bug reports has made the case for this 1 star review. I would have GLADLY given it 3 or 4 stars and simply provided feedback but no, no way, leaving users with this much frustration and no means of attempting to address problems qualifies for a big F. U. iPhone 8, iOS 15.1, everything else on the phone works perfectly and it's all as snappy as can be.

Crash

Whenever I send midi messages or try to assign midi cc, eg pulse proceeds to crash. On iPad Air 4 using akai mpd18 and Arturia keystep

? AUM

Daspittinimage on

Great app first of all but not working in AUM now for some reason

Barely Functional

Johnyboy39 on

United States

Could have been really really cool but unfortunately doesn’t really work with GarageBand like it says it does. Only one drum pad works when using it in GarageBand and there’s no snares for the hip hop drum sets. There’s also not enough drum sets in general. Might try Beathawk instead.

Great Drum Machine/Sampler!

Mtenk on

United States

Works great as an auv3 in Cubasis 3.

Great overall but export of waves files needs updated

hilltyler89 on

United States

So far I’ve really enjoyed this app. It works great as a plug-in inside GarageBand. I wanted to try exported the wave files and importing them into garage band but they don’t match up with the other tracks. Tried it numerous times but still won’t work properly. Once this is fixed this drum machine will be perfect
