From the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), this application allows medical professionals to estimate kidney function using five separate eGFR calculators:
- CKD-EPI Creatinine 2021 Equation (Preferred method)
- Revised Bedside Schwartz Formula (For ages 1-17)
- Cockcroft-Gault Formula
- CKD-EPI Cystatin C 2012 Equation
- CKD-EPI Creatinine - Cystatin C 2021 Equation
Also includes information on:
-Glomerular filtration rate (GFR)
-Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
-Clinical use on how to test, evaluate, and slow progression
-Formulas
The National Kidney Foundation is the leading organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention, and treatment of kidney disease for hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, millions of patients and their families, and tens of millions of Americans at risk.
By supporting the National Kidney Foundation, you directly influence and positively impact the lives of those at risk for kidney disease, those living with chronic kidney disease, and those who care for and about them.

eGFR Calculators FAQ
Is eGFR Calculators free?
Yes, eGFR Calculators is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is eGFR Calculators legit?
🤔 The eGFR Calculators app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
This gives you the current 2021 CKD-EPI calculator, however, it does not include the ability to factor in BSA (body surface area - height/weight). The National Kidney Foundation web site has the 2021 calculator with the ability to include BSA. If you do not factor in BSA, you may get a less precise eGFR value. Most national labs also do not factor in BSA, so you might have a conversation with your physician to see her/his thoughts. Just accepting the basic CKD-EPI 2021 formula, may place you in a GFR category and ACR category, you do not deserve. The discussion within this app notes the necessity to factor in BSA to the CKD-EPI 2021 equation, but the equation included with this app does not allow this option.
Utterly useless unlike the calculator on their website.
I need - no, REQUIRE - a GFR calculator that lets me individualize results to my patient’s individual height and weight. Too many of my patients are way off of ‘standard’ parameters for that to make sense. I had an ancient app that would do this but it no longer works on the current iOS upgrade. I was hoping this app would do so since the cGFR calculator on their website has that as an option. No such luck - and that makes this app useless to me. It was removed immediately after downloading.
Nurse
Very handy, but there is a flaw that must be addressed. The race and sex fields change when they should not. Tap on “male” for example and tap on on it a second, third, fourth time. Why does it change back and forth and back and forth? Please fix that behavior. Thanks.
CKD pt + former Med Professional
I wish I’d known about this several years ago-it would have saved a few grey hairs. I’m 57, a former RN-Paramedic who had to leave Medical School in my final year due to growing health issues related to my genetic disorder, nail-patella syndrome. I (and mySon) were also born with just 1, affected kidney. It wasn’t until the last two years that the proteinuria and overall function began to decline. Because I’m not a transplant candidate, we’re keeping an extremely close eye on everything. Thank you for making this available-AND for everything else you guys do to help patients like myself!!
PS I sent the link to this app to my primary & nephro -neither of whom had been previously aware of it.
Great app!
Use this app everyday. Only wish you had a Apple Watch companion.
Just what I need
Great app and useful for me as a student pharmacist!
Brief &easy
Thanks.brief&easy to use.
Everyone in internal medicine should have this app
Simple and accurate way to calculate GFR, recommended!
