REVIEWS
“I’ve tried many similar apps before, but none of them worked as well as El Trackpad. Besides not having any notable lag, the app lets the user perform the same gestures as you can do on Apple’s Magic Trackpad.”
— 9to5Mac
“What makes El Trackpad so impressive here is the fact that it appears to be lag-free and works identically to an actual Apple Magic Trackpad, which is super awesome.”
— Redmond Pie
“If you’ve ever used a Magic Trackpad or the built-in version on any MacBook model, you’ll be right at home with the app.”
— AppAdvice
“This app transforms the iPhone/iPad into a complete trackpad for Macs, with multi-touch support and everything.”

Thanks for the vote
How much does El Trackpad cost?
El Trackpad has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 3.00 $.
Edit: iOS 15.3 brings back the option to turn off gestures meaning this app works as intended :)
Wow, finally I found a cool app that I love even with the cable. But iOS 15 disables the ability to disable the 3+ finger gestures. So be warned that you will not be able to use mac trackpad gestures with this app post iOS 15. (not the developers fault).
Cool app, but Bluetooth?
This is a pretty cool app (though it would be better if my iPad had haptic feedback), however, the lack of Bluetooth support makes its use cases very niche. Easy 5 stars if it worked via Bluetooth.
Um. What about the obvious?
That is, an option to run the app upside so the cable is out of the way 🤦🏻♂️
(Thanks for the response. For me the app works in only 3 orientations, but not the 4th)
Great, but…
Certainly better than paying $$$ for a Mac trackpad, but there are times when particularly after a sleep period, when El Trackpad overrides the USB and nothing else works, such as wired mouse
It would be nice if I could use my IPhone as a trackpad for Ipad
This app would be useful if they update it where I can use the IPhone as a trackpad to my IPad Air and Stage Manager for the most portable mobile office
Swipes pickup on iPad an swipe you out of the app
A good idea. I hope they can make it work. But it’s not there yet. I paid anyway because I want to support the work.
Great App, Minor Errors
Looking for an app that could fully utilize my iPad’s screen as a trackpad. The trial idea was great and I used it for a week and was hooked.
Pros:
- Absolutely no lag at all due to cabled connection
- Gestures work well for not having pressure sensing capability like the normal Mac trackpad, assuming it works nearly the same as Apple’s Magic Trackpad as I’ve seen online
- 7 Day Trial really lets you experience the full app
Cons:
- In certain applications (for example, IntelliJ IDE), tap with two fingers for right click refuses to register (the same on the built in Mac trackpad works)
- Very rarely some gestures will not register, probably due to finger detection on the iPad side
Great app
I was pleasantly surprised to find most of the trackpad gestures I’m used to working out of the box. It would be great if two-finger swiping to got back and forward in Safari works too!
Needs some bug fixes for zoom/right click but generally a huge money saver
I love this so far. I don’t mind the cord because it makes for fast responding. My main issues are that the pinch to zoom and zoom out is only good/precise for zooming in. When you try and zoom back out it goes in tiny increments rather than quickly. I like to be able to smoothly control my zooms. The double two finger tap also sometime registers as a zoom and often responds with a right click. I think this could be resolved by making the zoom a three finger double tap instead as the touch gets confused. I’m already finding this frustrating. I would also love the option to change the orientation to use as landscape as I have a smaller phone. If this were resolved (particularly the zoom) I’d be so happy as the rest so far is wonderful. I can’t speak to the rotation option as I haven’t used it yet.
Underrated app, quite great
I was looking for something like this! It’s actually very intuitive and really helps increase productivity as well as posture when using the MacBook as a desktop. There is some lag issues sometimes, and Bluetooth would be amazing. But overall very impressed. Would definitely consider purchasing after the trial.
