Electrek Reviews

Reader's comments unavailable

For going on 2 to 3 months the reader's comments section is totally hosed--all you get is a few lines of error code. Really? How tough can this be to fix? Ridiculous!

Error message to view any comments

sad but true 😔 on

United States

I used to truly enjoy the Electrek app however for some unknown reason I am now receiving error messages when attempting to review comments. I’ve tried sending feedback to Electrek to no avail nor any acknowledgment whatsoever unfortunately.

Website and app not working

LoneWolfo6 on

United States

Last update the app started displaying each single word about inch down after scrolling and then kept crazy formatting for all articles? As example…Etc…?!

One of the worst news apps around

El queso grande on

United States

There is no menu, no search function, limited feed length, login for comments doesn’t work and on and on. Probably the worst news app available. Even worse than Motor Trend and that’s a pretty low bar to pass.

Server errors - updated

MattH252 on

United States

The articles are good (save Fred's frequent grammatical errors [update 8/22] I think Fred has been getting things proofread before posting), the content is relevant and is nearly always published here before elsewhere. However, I get server errors half of the time when opening the app. I can either read it on a web browser or on the app, and the web browser doesn't have trouble loading. I'm paying for the premium version because I want to support the writing, but the technical issues are too annoying to keep using the app. I'll happily update the review when the issues are resolved, but based on other feedback from months ago, I'm not holding my breath. [Update 8/22] I haven't had any server errors in months, so looks like whatever it was got patched. I'm now very satisfied with the overall experience.

Great site!

Always lots of great, interesting articles on EV vehicles and related renewable energy that are hard to find elsewhere. Down to earth, factual writing with new articles every day. An excellent source of information.

Best app

Best app for all things ev. Would be nice to be able to log in for comments via App store.

Ads in your face

DylanK128 on

United States

A full screen ad pops up over news stories when you click into them. I’ve been a longtime reader of Electrek and enjoy the articles and content, but the ads that pop up make it obnoxious to use. I recommend the website version of Electrek, this app isn’t worth it because of the ads.

Best site for EVs, solar, e-bikes, and climate related news.

EVDriver1 on

I receive regular digests in my email and check every posting. This site is outstanding. The app is also excellent. A must have for anyone working in or interested in EVs, solar, e-bikes, and climate related news!
