Ellie is a simple and beautiful task organization app.
It has 3 primary features:
1. A planner view where you can view all of your tasks for each day
2. A brain dump where you can offload all tasks and clear your mind (and then deal with them later)
3. A time block/time box mode where you can drag your tasks into a calendar (Google calendar and Apple calendar integration available so you can view Google/Apple calendar events alongside your Ellie tasks!)
Ellie is available on the web at ellieplanner.com
The free version of Ellie can create unlimited tasks. Upgrade to a Ellie Pro subscription ($9.99/month or $99.99/year or $299.99 once) to unlock additional pro features like labels, recurring tasks, subtasks and more.
Ellie is a great alternative to Todoist, Sunsama, Amie, Motion, Akiflow, Morgen and more!
If you’ve previously purchased a pro subscription, you’ll be able to use the Restore Purchases option in the app for access to all Ellie pro features.
These prices are for customers in the United States and may vary depending on your iTunes Account settings. In-app purchases and subscriptions cannot be shared using Family Sharing.

Best app of its kind that I’ve used for day and week planning and structuring lists of tasks to do. I organise and action my work in structured finder folders and in Apple Notes and I use Ellie to implement and plan my days. Thanks Chris for making this!
A great app that’s getting better all the time
Ellie is a daily planner that already has lots of great features and plenty more on the roadmap. It’s much more reasonably priced than its competitors and the dev is very responsive.
Great App at a Great Price!
Absolutely love using Ellie to quickly plan out my week. It handles a full college load really well and can easily plan out my days.
Really good
Good
Just like Sunsama, but WAY cheaper
This is almost exactly like Sunsama and it is my perfected way to work. The fact that it is $50 per year as opposed to $20 per month has made my wallet much happier.
I’m blown away.
I’ve used Todoist for years and it’s felt stagnant in almost every way since that team started to focus on their “teams” functionality. So I began trying every. Other. PM/Task management app. Each one would leave me wanting enough to go back to Todoist. Nothing else has the functionality without being overly complicated.
Then I found Ellie. It’s an amazing app that just keeps getting better. Mobile is useful and simple. Gcal 2 way sync. Mac app is beautiful and stable. Great all around.
Not working
I downloaded the app, but the add task button is not working and I deleted it. One star.
Great productivity app!
This app has been super helpful in allowing me to dump all my tasks from my mind into a list that I can then visually sort into my free time! It was one of the few planner apps that synced with both Apple Calendar and Google Calendar which was paramount for me since I get invites from both sources! The app developer, Chris, has also been super responsive and helpful for the troubleshooting I had! Best experience for this app is definitely on desktop, but iOS is great for jotting down the tasks you need to do while you’re out and about.
Finally finally finally!
I have tried every task/PM app and method I could find. Lots of them have worked well enough, but the thing I actually needed was a way to plan my day AND capture all tasks and organize with labels if needed. The closest things I found were MS ToDo (the my day feature is great, the rest is too clunky) and Amazing Marvin (mobile app was a dealbreaker). I was always adapting my latest app of choice to work better for my neuropicy AuDHD brain. Inevitably, I would find myself searching again for something that fit a little better. Then I stumbled on a Reddit thread where someone asked for recs for an app that does exactly what I was looking for. The developer commented and mentioned he had made an app for just that.
I was skeptical, but I checked it out and I was immediately hooked. Ellie is gorgeous (so I like using it), minimalist (no overstimulation or overwhelm), and easy to use (no learning curve). The braindump is a perfect capture tool, and the day planning tool is so intuitive. It has every single feature I need, and none that I don’t. I’ve been using it for a few weeks, and I couldn’t be happier.
Chris, if you’re reading this, for the love of god do NOT let this app die. I know you won’t, but if upkeep gets tough I will personally find someone to take over 😂. Thank you!
Love this app
I’ve tried lots of apps. Monday, motion, lots of list making apps, google docs etc, and I really love this one the most. It’s super simple, easy to pull up on the go on my mobile app, fun to sit on my laptop and plan at night, and helps my crazy creative brain get stuff done. And excellent customer service. 5 stars :)
