The uninstaller for the MacOS app you need to use this is broken. The “elgato virtual camera” extension will not go away. There are no directions for this. I had to lookup a fix from someone on Reddit, but there were only instructions for M1 cpus, not for intel. The instructions involve disabling system identity protection. This is scary when I’m not sure the fix will actually work, and there is potential to brick my laptop. Do not install this ever.
Would not connect. Just sat there and spun. Tried WiFi and USB (which I prefer). Neither worked. Made sure I had all prerequisites but never connected to PC.
It is a little laggy. Not sure if it’s because of my computer (which it’s probably not because it’s new) or because of OBS but there is some lag in the footage. Better quality then a webcam but worse lag. I don’t like the water mark either.
Amazing app, it works as intended
Requires wifi to connect despite offering the ability to connect over USB. Epoc fail
No matter what I do the app doesn’t work via WiFi keeps freezing my whole computer until I have to heavy reset
This used to work perfectly, then when Elgato started making physical cameras for content creators, and combined it with Elgato HD Camera Hub app, they broke its functionality. Trying to get support for the issues is a loop of emails and no real solution. Seems they tanked it to sell more cameras sadly.
Terrible app and PC software.. will never recommend or use no matter what they do to it. I really wasted 24 hours of my life trying to figure this thing out..
It works great in OBS, Zoom, Teams, etc. in Windows. It does not work on a Mac. The only app you can use it in on a Mac is Elgato Camera Hub which is essentially useless. You can't use the wireless camera in OBS, Zoom, or Teams on a Mac, which are—by far—the most common ways people use a wireless "second" camera. Apple has terrible developer access to their APIs and licensing for Third Party developers so it wouldn't be surprising if the lack of Mac functionality is Apple's fault rather than Elgato's.
