MUSIC SOURCES INFORMATION

WAY too high price tag!

Alice says that I don't have to pay if I don't want to (well, duh) and in stead use the free version (missing The Bass Boost, wow what an offer). Equalizer+ is rent only aka "subscription", but there are plenty of Equalizer alternatives at fixed and very reasonable prices like for instance Onkyo HF Player, Soundy, Evermusic Pro, Flacbox. You pay only once. Some offer e.g 30 min full version in exchange for watching one ad for a few seconds. The free restricted version of Equalizer+ also misses the Fade option and Spectrum shape, but the full version has a WAY too high price tag, it's actually not even "for sale" per say, so talking solely about "paying" isn't entirely true without it's context. It's rent only aka "subscription" which to me is a strange business model, I would think setting a fixed price would increase the revenue. The rent for ONE WEEK ALONE is a whopping $9.50! That will NEVER fly, it may PERHAPS be realistic for a business app for professional use that can actually SAVE you some money, but for a simple music player with an Equalizer?? What also takes away from the usefulness of this app even in the pay version, is the fact that Equalizer+ only works with your own songs located in your device, and since no one app can interfere with the sound output from another (it's quite simply an iOS restriction), other music players (some have their own built-in equalizer btw) e.g Spotify, Soundcloud, Google Music Player etc, online radio like Pandora, Rhapsody etc, podcasts, video channels like YouTube, or any other streaming service like Netflix, HBO etc, doesn't benefit from Equalizer+ at all! Other apps than Equalizer+ however, can play from a host of cloud sources, and some, e.g EQLZR (aka "Equalizer+ Audio player and Sound Booster Music Player and Visualizer"), can connect to accounts such as SoundCloud and Spotify, thusly adding Equalizer control to those sources (it's worth noting though, that NO 3rd party app can play Apple Music content because Apple won't let them, so the sound control of Apple Music is limited to what iOS offers, which isn't much). Still, there is one positive thing: Equalizer+ says that the YEARLY subscription fee is a "mere" $40.99 (which begs the question why the app startup interface only presents the monthly fee: greedy much?) which amounts to "just" 79¢ a week, $3.42 a month. But considering I can buy a Netflix Standard streaming plan for a monthly fee of $12.99, then $3.42 is still an overpricing extravaganza.

From free to paywall

I have had this app for a long time and features like bass boost, fade, and the visualizer were all free. For some reason I can’t see the EQ presets or visualizer so I updated and to my surprise everything is behind a paywall. WTF? Stay away, there are way better apps that offer more for free than what you get here when paying.

Fix the Dropbox integration

I only downloaded this for the Dropbox integration since I already had an app with sweet sound settings (SonicMax Pro) and Jukebox for Dropbox. I thought this would be like smashing those two apps into one. But I downloaded from my Dropbox and those files didn't integrate in the regular iTunes library. Instead you have to go to the "Downloaded tracks" section and all files are sorted alphabetically; not by artist or album. And there's no album artwork that shows up either.
