Yes, Eurostar Trains is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Eurostar Trains legit?
⚠️ The Eurostar Trains app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
If you’d like to use the app to see your tickets for the moment in time you book them, then it’s great. If you have departing and returning trains an hour or more late don’t expect the app to update you. We had to arrive to the train station to find out our train was late, the app still showed everything on time. Why even have the app of its this awful?

So many issues
Only half the time I try to book via the app, it actually goes through. Always just book online now. But when I book online, i can’t import trip via my bookings with booking number and last name
Full of bugs
For several days already the app does not work. Can’t retrieve booking, can’t book a ticket, etc. Would have thought they would already notice and address it but no.
Terrible
Can’t set dates when booking and can’t add my booking. There is no point to this app. Just use the website

They don’t provide a link to the physical address on the mobile app, your printed ticket, or the website.
If they do, then it is by far the least customer friendly interface in existence.
There are so many train stations in London and when you are a traveler who does not want to go to the trouble of getting a SIM card, it could be solved instantly by putting a link to the specific physical place where you will need to go to board your train.
That means you can have confidence you don’t show up to the wrong place, and as stressful as international travel always is, I don’t think it is at all unreasonable to expect the place you bought tickets from to have the foresight and customer care to give you a link to the physical address of the station on your ticket so that you can follow the link and download directions when you are on WiFi.
This detail, although seemingly insignificant, completely cancels out all of the positive things about Eurostar, which I won’t take the extra five minutes to include because they didn’t want to take the extra five seconds to provide me with an easy way to locate their physical address when I booked.
No healthy upstream
Since the most recent update, the app won’t allow tickets to be saved to Apple Wallet. Instead, I get “no healthy upstream” message seemingly indicating a problem with the API. Please fix this!!!

Train is fine but I bookkeeping a forward facing seat due to motion sickness and our seats were changed to backwards facing seats which made the ride unpleasant for me.
Horrible
After a 90 minute delay we had to switch trains in Brussels. Once we finally got to Schipol in Amsterdam. My husband helped a lady with 3 small children get off the train. The Eurostar staff sat and watched while my husband used the weight of his body to stop the train doors from closing while this poor mom tried to get her family off the train. Why on earth would you have staff who sits there and laughs. Absolutely mortified as this transpired. No one was willing to help. My husband is now bruised and I’m thoroughly disgusted in Eurostars willingness not to help. Shame on all of you
