Explore Beijing

I’ve been a happy user of this (and the developer’s Shanghai and HK metro apps) for several years. I’m not sure the design is keeping up with the growing complexity of the Beijing metro, though. Interchange stations are sometimes hard to read (text often crosses awkwardly over lines); the station names have some spacing irregularities; and now some names slant in funny, non-design-compliant directions. I think rather than squeezing more lines into an existing design, the developer might find it worthwhile to redesign the map from scratch, to better accommodate the denser web of stations? Easy for me to say though; I’m not a designer. Also, agree that station exit maps are essential and need to be clearer and more informative in this app, for it to fulfill its potential. Often that’s precisely the info I’m looking for, and the app lets me down here.

Subways are not hard unless you are Country Folk lol

Rating 1 star (can I do zero stars?) for false advertising; I want my $2.00 back. "Everything works offline" is not true. I want subway exits offline -- the only reason I bought this app. However, to do this you must have network access. Google Maps data is not licensed from Google, instead the app just networks in Google Maps when needed to see subway exits. No network, no maps. The built-in maps from OpenStreetMaps do NOT have subway exits marked. I am using the Beijing app, FYI, in case it is different for other cities.

I loaded this app and it was great to see all the routes, but once I was in Beijing the Subway is so easy to use that I didn't ever need to look at the App. It could be useful for looking at first and last trains, however, because the subway closes down pretty early.

I was excited to find this app, however during my visit to Beijing, I found this app was seriously lacking. I tried to use the feature to show me what's near, but it won't work (yes my location services was turned on) it does tell you how long the ride should take between your destinations, but that's about it. I was hoping to search popular tourist destinations and have the app plan my route for me. I'm sure with some tweaking this app could be great.

I have checked a few and live in Beijing. This is the best app for the Beijing subway.

Quick and easy, this helps before you step into the Beijing subway which is great, but does have some quirks like how the Chinese use arrows. Use this app first, then explore a very cool city.
