EyeEm - Photography

Great app…glad I found it!

I joined the EyeEm community in 2016 as a complete amateur shooting on my phone. At that point it just felt great that my photos were getting some exposure, one even sold for 4$ haha. Since then however my photography style has changed dramatically, I shoot onto 35mm film and know a hell of a lot more than I did then. The app is still great, it mainly allows me to find great visual inspiration. There are some things however that I have found lacking or dont entirely welcome. I get that this is a big data business and therefore I am amazed that it works as it does at all, yet I think that the ability to search images could be improved and the ability to communicate with other photographers could also be improved. The discover tab in the app is a great place where I would like to see a stream of new visual and other inspiration but it barely ever changes, with images staying put for months on end. And finally, this is probably my biggest issue with the app. I feel like most photographers do not have a chance at gaining significant recognition due to discrimination from EyeEms side. EyeEm makes it clear that they are great advocates of equality, mainly gender and transgender but also age and people with dissabilities. I am by no means saying that I have a problem with any of these veiws by themselves but I do have a problem with feeling like I do not have a chance as a photographer if I do not take photos that specifically support EyeEms side. At this point my photography focuses mainly on capturing post socialist atmospheres in Eastern Europe. I quote one of EyeEms mission articles; “we are explicitly looking for diversity in models”. That is what you get. If your photography style dosent match up with that, it appears as if you are at a significant loss. That to me is discrimination. I simply take photos that as a whole do not either support or go against any political or social movement. I should not be pushed into doing so.

It’s very intuitive and nifty. Only one complaint is lack of communication. I have tweeted and emailed but no answer.

Great app with amazing filters but it never lets me upload to the market as the photo resolution is too low,I use an IPhone 8 and want to know how I can fix that and be able to upload.The photos I take are clear and the iPhone 8 has a good camera.

Does what it says. I like it very much. Easy 2 get followers.

Excellent site where photographers come together and also view masterpieces. Very easy navigate and fun to use.
