Lowers sound quality
I have used this desser for my live streams, for my talking voice, to remove “spit” sounds when I move my tongue in my mouth, and it definitely helps with that a lot. But I’m constantly adjusting the settings and never quite happy with how it handles my breath. It tends to create a chopping or rumbling effect, as it rapidly turns on and off when my breath hits the mic, or if I make an “S” sound that’s near the edge of this thing’s frequency threshold. If it can’t quite make up its mind whether or not to de-es, then it rapidly turns on and off, creating and rumble or chopping effect, like I'm talking through a fan. I feel like the algorithm this thing uses needs a bit more work, so that once it decides to do its thing on a particular sound, then it’ll continue to do it until that sound changes shape significantly enough. That way, if it was a breath of mine that triggered it, then it’ll stay triggered until my breath is over, rather than turning itself on and off rapidly. If that makes sense. And if it already does this, then it’s not doing it enough, which means I need a knob to control this. But there is no knob for this, so I assume this is a feature it doesn’t have. Also, it really makes no sense that a human can create “s” or breath sounds that frequently. Even if I spoke as fast as an auctioneer, I couldn’t put S or breath sounds between my words as fast as this thing is turning itself on and off when it’s glitching. So perhaps if this thing had a speaking mode, that would try not to sound like a propeller. Amen.
