Fade In Mobile FAQ

Yes, Fade In Mobile is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Fade In Mobile legit?
⚠️ The Fade In Mobile app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
I love fade in on my Mac. But this iOS version is very disappointing. I’m stuck in a hospital & thought, I can keep working, because my script are on iCloud. But none of them will load. It claims I’m trying to import them, but no, these are native FI files that work just fine on the desktop. So I figure, ok, let’s try and create one from scratch, and not even that works. It lets me create the file, but nothing I typed shows up on the page. I tried playing with page color, in case there was a font color problem, but still a blank page. Then I go looking for a way to control the font color, and maybe it’s me, but I just can’t find it. I’ve never experienced this before, loading a writing app that literally refuses to write. Like I said, maybe I am missing something, but it really shouldn’t be this hard.
Crashes
Frequently just crashes and you lose your latest work. Nothing is saved until you exit the app manually. Now I have to save everything few minutes which kills the flow. On iPad 17.5.1.
Worst App for scripting
Sorry folks but i just don’t feel like writing down all the bull in this app. I only have two hours before work so I know I won’t be finished. 🤢🤮😡
Would love more export features
I want to love mobile version, but I can’t export anything outside of Fade In’s file type. I would love a pdf export option.
Not Up To Standard
I really wish I could like this app because I love the computer software. It does what it’s supposed to do but just barely and not without restrictions. Used the free version and was disappointed so I paid for this version hoping it’d be better but it’s exactly the same as the free one, so I just lost that cash. Improvements to the UI to make this more like the desktop software would be a godsend. Until then I can’t recommend it when there are so many better options.
It Will Eventually Fail You
I tried to stick with it because I really love the desktop application, but wow is this app terrible. It will crash on you, it will lose your work, it will butcher saves when you try to recover work, the work you try to recover will somehow be incorrect in regard to what you wrote at various dates and times. It will fail. It did fail, and now I have to find another app that I can rely on.
Infuriating trying to use on IPad Pro with m2 chip
The lag is unbearable when trying to type anything. The work layout is awful and format keys are stupidly placed along the bottom of the screen. My first use with the app it freezes, no scrolling, and then when it did scroll the screen goes blank for about 3 seconds as you freak out wondering what happened. Using this app is not worth the stress and frustration it cause for the user. Thanks for nothing.
I love FADE IN but the Mobile app is now a hassle vs an asset
I have been using Fade In pro on my computers with no problems. However I have recently switched to the iPad Pro as my main work horse and I have issues with Phantom Caps Lock and problems with scripts opening as well as just navigating the script.
When I first got the app it was fine never had any issues but then I recently had a problem where caps lock randomly staying on after I do a scene heading or type a character name.
The app gets stuck when opening a project i have been working on. I have to close and open the program back up multiple times and just pray every time that it opens. I have been exporting my script every time I exit just so I know I have access to the fade in project else where.
And lastly I have been having an issue just navigating the script and a delay when typing. The delay in typing (Not my keyboard because i don't have delays in any other app on my iPad)
I really do love this app but Its becoming a hassle more than an asset at this point.
This app is the worst I’ve ever had to endure yet it’s better than other screenwriting apps
Yo let me tell you something about this horrendous app. Warning my experience with the app “Fade In” is absolutely painful! Whenever I type my script using it lags or receives glitches and in worse cases it DELETES SCRIPTS from the app that I’ve wrote previously. It shocks me how actual screenwriters use this app to write actual films yet the quality isn’t that good, it’s just a mediocre app that has a only a few better qualities! At worst the app is the worst app I’ve ever used. I’m trying to deal with it for now but if this app doesn’t receive any updates I’m giving this a 1 star rating. I don’t care, I won’t hold back!
Great and Convenient, But Outdated
I use the app on my ipad and phone and I just love it. It’s a great alternative instead of carrying a laptop around, but my only gripe is just the lack of updates. I can’t type in real time. I don’t know if it’s my phone or the app itself, but trying to type on the app is a nightmare.
