Final Draft Mobile Reviews

Lost formatting

CB1409 on

Norway

This app started out working perfect. Unfortunately it did not last long until formatting was messed up, and the exported reports could not count the characters or locations. (Basicially every new line generated a new character, even if the correct formatting was shown on each line) The app also crashes.

Index cards and scene view

I really like this as a supplement to FD on my Mac. But I really wished it was index cards and or/scene view on the FD Mobile.

Convenient software!

It drives me a bit crazy to write on a touchscreen, weird mistakes happen all the time, so it's a bit loopy, but that has more to do with my big clumsy fingers then this piece of software. If you only have a handheld device and you need to write a script, this app is pretty awesome! I would say this was developed for pros who are all-ready familiar with the "Mother Software version of 'Final Draft' for computers", so initially there is a little bit of a learning curve, (if you are totally new to this software). But there is plenty of resources online where you can learn everything easy-pezy! You just have to put a little bit of time into learning the interface and what icon means what, etc, thats all... One really convenient thing is that it auto-saves a version of your draft like once every minute or so, so if your like me (a bit clumsy) and press all the wrong buttons at once, and end up with a messed up result, you can just "go back in time" and no more problems! Only real complaint is that when you write in a "foreign language", the spellcheck "goes bananas", but I guess after your done, you can just run it through another word-processor type of program that does good spellchecking in your specific language. Thanks a lot for this awesome little app!

So unstable it’s basically unuseable.

This app is so unstable it’s basically unuseable junk. Unfortunately the windows app isn’t much better. I get the distinc impression that the only stable useable version of this application is on a mac. They obviously don’t care about or are technically unable of developing a stable software package for any other patform. I am a creative who has used dozens of apps from various suppliers and never have I came away feeling so dissapointed and frustrated as with my past 4 months of persevering with final draft. I’d give this rubbish a wide berth.

Let down by basic missing functionality

NickSimons on

Norway

Walled garden: not able to paste text in from other applications . This functionality works on the mac, why not on iPad? Not everyone writes in final draft, collaboration work using this is a massive hassle. If microsoft’s office can do it, why not Final Draft? Regret paying for this.
