Firefox Fast & Private Browser

Search, Browse, Stay Incognito

Published by: Mozilla

Description

Take control of your internet with Firefox.
When you choose Firefox, you’re choosing to stay private, stay focused, and stay in charge.
PRIVACY WHERE IT MATTERS MOST
Firefox blocks hidden trackers that follow you around the internet and slow down your browsing. Want more control? Switch Enhanced Tracking Protection to Strict mode for extra protection across all your tabs. Or browse in a private window — your search and browsing history disappears when all your private tabs are closed.
DIFFERENT DEVICES. SAME TRAIN OF THOUGHT
Start a search on your phone and pick it up on your laptop — or vice versa. With a Mozilla account, your open tabs, history, and bookmarks travel with you. Firefox can even suggest strong passwords when you’re creating a new account and securely store them so they’re available across all your devices.
STREAMLINED HOME SCREEN
Pick up right where you left off. Your open tabs are intuitively grouped and displayed, along with recent bookmarks, top sites, and popular articles.
FIND IT FAST WITH FIREFOX’S SEARCH BAR
Get search suggestions in the search bar and quickly access the sites you visit most. Type in your search query and get suggested and previously searched results across your preferred search engines.
ORGANISE YOUR TABS THE WAY YOU LIKE
Open as many tabs as you like without losing track. Firefox displays your open tabs as thumbnails, making it easy to quickly find what you want.
SHARE ANYTHING IN A FEW TAPS
Easily share links to web pages or specific items on a page, with quick access to your most recently used apps.
BILLIONAIRE-FREE FOR OVER 20 YEARS
The Firefox browser was created in 2004 by Mozilla as a faster, more private, and more customisable alternative to other web browsers. Today, we’re still not-for-profit, still not owned by any billionaires, and still working to make the internet — and the time you spend on it — better. "Inactive tabs" made it unusable. Now you're showing the oldest tabs I have as "active" (for some reason), and the rest of the tabs are shoved into the inactive tabs panel, sorted wrongly (oldest at the top), have to scroll way down each time, has no ability to interact with the tab, no ability to keep the list open and not lose the position, no tab search, requires multiple taps and scrolls for each time I want to switch to a slightly older tab, and the freaking "active tabs" list is so short, it made the whole browser useless. Wow, great job. Maybe try using your own browser next time. It's almost as if you don't want anyone to use Firefox. Baffling how people can decide on these awful changes. What a waste.

I enjoy the app, and the overall experience. I need a cross-platform browser to use Linux and Mac OS side by side. Still, the bookmarks in the iOS-browser app are not searchable. I can't find a way to sort them either. These features would earn the last missing star ⭐️

Some recent update forces the switch to the default ios keyboard. If you use apps like SwiftKey, Firefox no longer allows you to use it 😭

Home page customization seems broken. Could you make it possible to turn off browser history?

This is beautiful! I just switched to Arch Linux on my PC and the Mozilla sync feature was awesome to have on my iPhone/iPad. The browser is really good on iOS and todays update to include the password field at the bottom is a timesaver. And the toggle to switch the toolbar/address bar to the bottom was almost necessary. There are however a few things I really miss from Safari on iOS. One is the gestures on the address field to swipe right to goto previous tab, left to go to next and at the last tab create a new tab. Swipe up to get the tab overview. Nothing major, but a little less streamlined. A feature to edit what buttons is at the toolbar would really be appreciated. Along an easier way to access the toolbar when it's hidden. Tapping the bottom of the screen doesn't always work. It's almost as if you have to hardpress. Safari just minimizes to a really thin address bar when scrolling. I don't know if that is why it's so easy to activate the toolbar, but it works at least. The other feature I miss is of course extension support. AdGuard Pro with DNS filtering saves it, but I miss a few other extensions. The Orion browser on iOS already supports firefox extensions. I don't know if they needed to "hack it" into the browser seeing as Apple doesn't allow extensions on other browsers. Anyway this would be a really nice addition to Firefox on iOS. Hopefully Orions way to do it can make it's way to Firefox or maybe Apple finally announces extension API support at WWDC in june, although I doubt it. I would really like to rate Firefox a 5 star and I'll update my post if these features ever gets implemented. I'm willing to neglect the last reason if there are no good ways to implement extensions. But I feel that a 5 star app really need to be very close to perfect.

The best browser for iPhone

If you combine Firefox with DuckDuckGo search this will be the best browser for iPhone, both in privacy and sync features. Firefox is very good in terms of privacy, speed and sync features with other devices. This is a very good package if you want something else than Google, with it’s known violations of privacy and tracking of users. At the end of the day, all browsers on iOS uses the WebKit engine from Safari, so there is no Chromium or Gecko on iOS. But Safari is not very good if you have other devices outside the Apple ecosystem.
