Description

Highly versatile fitness testing and performance evaluation - getting fit has never been easier!
FitnessMeter is an advanced timing and measurement tool, useful for various forms of fitness testing. Aimed at both coaches evaluating multiple athletes and individuals monitoring their performance, the app can be applied to a variety of different tests to measure speed, agility, jumping altitude and overall physical condition.
FitnessMeter includes the following tools:
Flying Sprint
Using the camera view, FitnessMeter measures the top speed or acceleration of a sprinter over a predetermined distance of 10-20 m. Two red lines, functioning as timing gates, aid in identifying the points between which running time is measured.
Sprint and Shuttle
This mode can be applied to both sprints and agility tests. The app functions as a starting gun and a timing gate, and can be configured to handle several different types of tests, from conventional sprint to more complex drills, such as the 505 Agility test.
Vertical Jump
FitnessMeter records a short video that allows you to easily measure the height of a jump. If you are evaluating your performance, put the iPhone in your pocket and use the accelerometer tool instead.
Repetitions
FitnessMeter can count and time various repetitive activities such as sit-ups, push-ups, step-ups, etc. The iPhone can be placed beside you, using the camera to track repetitions using motion detection, or attached to yourself to allow monitoring through the accelerometer.
Beep Test
A configurable Beep Test that saves an image after each lap, which makes it easy to keep track of results, even for a large group of runners.

FitnessMeter Reviews

Good app

Update: so the developer reached out to me, which I thought was great, and verified he was able to see the issue I was having. He also explained why the fix may not be soon if ever and suggested for my specific purpose I might try his sprint timer app (I am going to try). He also offered a refund if I didn’t feel the current functionality was satisfactory. I’m only attempting to use Flying Sprint so I cannot comment on the other four functions of the app. Since my initial review I’ve had time to play with the app even more, It seems to work great when using two devices to record a start and stop time, but you will need to manually record the times (it locks up if you try to save them to a specific person in app). Also there’s no real advantage to saving in the app because there’s no ability to view, track, or manipulate data results on the device, instead requiring an email of the data to yourself for viewing. There are a lot of great ideas here, I’m pretty happy with the app.

Having all the functions in one app is great! I've used speedclock before in my science class and now I can use fitness meter on the pitch. Takes some practice and you need a tripod or something stable for sure, otherwise it's quick, easy, and fun

Awesome app

It's a great fun app that is very useful. Everything works great accept the accel-meter in counting the reps. The camera works well but when I have it in my arm bad I can't count it to do reps. It wouldn't even give me a rep when I shook it. I hope that gets fixed soon. Other than that its a great app.

Vertical jump and flying sprint are very useful. Well made and easy to use after some practice.

Great and flexible app

I especially like the vertical jump and beep tests, but the rest is also useful. It can be a little tricky to find the right placement of the iPhone in the reps test, but it works well when you do.

fitnessmeter rates high with this training group!

The easiest evaluation and exercise performance tool we have found to-date. We've used the Vertical Jump option to perform standing long and triple jump tests with more than satisfactory results in less time to pull tape and record. The Sprint & Shuttle application has a myriad of training functions including (for us) hurdle TD recording from a simulated gun start. We use the Beep application for small hurdle work as well. And with the Repetitions application we don't have to count reps or manually use a stopwatch to monitor time with each exercise. Highly recommended!
