I only wrote 5 stars so people could see this DO NOt I repeat do not get this app the app seems promising but when you get in, it does not let you do any lessons unless you pay if you do a free trail the lessons are horrible very bad app do not recommend try Duolingo
This app is a scam. They are charging me 25$ every month and outright refuse to cancel my subscription. The app itself is so dumb and useless I can't even describe. For starters, as if this app was made in the 90s, you manually have to mark "I don't know"/"I don't remember" unlike much more powerful and effective apps like Duolingo. The interface is just a giant HTML form. There is no feedback on your learning or vocabulary. They just send you lessons and unlike advertised there is no science that will help you learn the language. Such a horrible and disappointing experience.
I look forward to each lesson because each one is clever, very funny, and based on sound language learning research. I appreciate the creators’ hard work! Merci mille fois! Rebecca
I used Frantastique for several years, progressing through all the levels until I ran out of content. There is no question that the quality of the materials is excellent and engaging. I learned so much from using this application/service. I used Frantastique as part of an overall set of learning materials to advance my knowledge of French because nothing beats in-class instruction. Nonetheless, Frantastique can help accelerate your journey in French — and in a very engaging way. After I finished Frantastique, I ended up getting a bachelors degree in French and have lived in France since 2021. On a daily basis, I make use of all those little tidbits on culture and expressions that I learned through Frantastique. One small challenge with Frantastique and Gymglish’s other products is that they are not for pure beginners. You do need to have some basic French knowledge to get started. At present, I am working my way very slowly through Saga Baladoria (their Italian course) and am really struggling because I don’t have enough foundational Italien. In any event, the 7-day trial will give you a chance to assess where you are with French so you can make your own judgement. If you can combine Frantastique + in-person instruction + French reference materials, then the overall approach can be successful.
I used to really like this app! A little repetitive but different! I already had some French knowledge before downloading. I find that for absolute beginners may be a little hard. But it’s a cute app. I also find that it’s not an app where if you only use this you will become fluent. Not at all tbh it’s good to have on the side. Before I used to pay $15 and it was like 4 lessons a week I think. Now to get 5 it’s $80. And for two lessons a week its $12 for some lessons that are good but not wow. Might as well pay that for bussu and babble which are much better even Duolingo. I’m not sure what happened here but it’s way too expensive now. You can get a certification on bussu and learn modern words and practice and review better. I’m super disappointed because I enjoyed this app
This is really my favorite way to remember and improve the French I’ve learned!! I love the humor and I love that the app is so adaptable to my learning needs. I’ve found it difficult to identify good learning material beyond beginner or early intermediate French but Frantastique is perfect! Fun, bite sized lessons on a regular basis. I only wish the price weren’t such a stretch. It’s hard to justify, and I know several people who would love it otherwise!
Loved the sample lessons but don’t want to pay for an app that throttles users to only 5 lessons a week to drag out learning and maximize profits. Just set a base price for the entire course so people can buy it and do it at their own pace.
It’s a great resource, but I wish there were a landscape mode for iPad and iPhone.
Way more fun and way more helpful than any other app i’ve used! i’ve used duolingo, rosetta stone, etc and this is by far the best one i’ve ever found!
