Description

Master the Fretboard with Fretuoso
Fretuoso is an engaging educational game designed to help you learn the location of notes on the fretboard of the guitar and other stringed instruments. With support for eleven instruments—including 4, 5, and 6-string basses, mandolin, ukulele, and banjo—you can expand your musical knowledge no matter your instrument of choice.
How It Works

What Artists Are Saying
“Learning the notes on the fretboard is key to any guitarist’s development, and Fretuoso is a neat way to get that info burned into your brain without having to carry a guitar everywhere you go. Pretty cool!”
— Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Steve Vai, Mike Keneally)
“This is one of the best apps I’ve seen in a while. It’s simple, fun, and educational. Very useful for guitar players, as many tend to play by ear and not focus on knowing the fretboard.”
— Rick Musallam (Mike Keneally, Gryphon Labs)

This app is great for when you’re on the go: on the bus, in-line, or in bed. If you want to learn the notes on the fretboard without caring your guitar around it’s perfect BUT the sound will not work on my phone! I need to hear the pitch. All in all great app!

Fretuoso is fun!

Fretuoso is a great tool for learning the notes of the staff and the location of the notes on the fingerboard. You can play it when you’re away from your guitar which is great on vacation or on a break at work. Thank you for a great product! Chad

Paid for the full version, kinda regretting it.

Generally speaking the app has a very dated Web 2.0 looking interface and it’s lacking in all but the most basic features that other software offers. Want to practice with only naturals? Sorry! Want to specify *any* options in ‘game’ mode? Again, nope. Want to increase the difficulty and skip the first 20 or so levels of basic 5 fret quizzing? Sorry! I was hoping for a ‘note hunter’ mode where you could be given a note and have to track them all down. This app is super basic, practice mode and a progressive difficulty quiz mode, that’s it. I recommend looking a Fretonomy instead.

I am left handed, so there is no option to switch alignment in the app. I want to cancel my subscription, but there are no clear directions and it is not found on my Apple subscriptions in settings. This means I will have to call my credit card to cancel. Not good. Please do better in the future. Yours, Lin Buer

Love it. Wish 4 1 improvement.

I LOVE this app. The only ask I’d have is if there could b an adjustment for image size. OR, even better; a version for pc. U can’t see the whole fretboard on my smartphone.

True left hand mode please!

Re-ordering the strings while keeping the headstock on the left is wrong. I really want to like this app and it's wrong to judge it harshly solely on this one issue, but this is a big deal. If the shoe (literally?) were on the other foot, you would do something about it. Edit: I’m disappointed that this hasn’t been addressed, years later. Left hand guitar isn’t upside down right hand.
