Description

Have you tried learning the notes on the fretboard before only to come back later and find you get confused or don't clearly remember the notes? If this has happened to you, it means that you did not properly commit the "data" to your long term random access memory.
This is frustrating and causes some people not to bother learning the guitar fretboard. That is sad, because all that was needed is a proper "learning system". This is where FretWiz comes in! FretWiz uses a proven learning technique that is highly successful in thoroughly teaching the guitar fretboard where other methods or apps fail.
FretWiz features a total of 50 lessons which gradually build on themselves. The lessons are constantly challenging you with evolving questions and only allow you to pass if your speed and accuracy are considered high enough. The app intelligently monitors your answers, and focuses on the areas you struggle with most. This creates the "quickest route" to learning the entire fretboard in a fun, intuitive and intelligent way. There are different lesson types which vary in speed and qualifying pass mark. Some drills will be challenging because of their speed, but will be satisfying when passed.
At a glance, you will be able to see which notes you know better than others with the dynamic colouring system (green to red). As time goes by, you will see the dots moving from red to orange and then towards green. You will notice the information sinking into your long term memory and realise that the fretboard is being imprinted into your mind. How much is this worth to you? If you have tried every other app out there, then get FretWiz - It will do the job!
FretWiz, the best guitar fretboard training app out there!

The description of the app sounds good, but if I were able to preview the app before purchasing I never would have bought it. It’s not optimized for newer devices with top notches, which covers the title of the lessons and cuts off the fretboard. It also jumps right in to a test without any lesson beforehand, so you just have to guess until you get it right, or do some research elsewhere before taking the test.

Yup.

I never write reviews but I will for this one. I've tried several ways to learn the fretboard and this was definitely the best and only way to do it. Thanks FretWiz.

Terrific - the Fretboard trainer I wanted!

This app is excellent! I have tried the free apps and found them ineffective as they jump randomly all over the fretboard. FretWiz is a logical grouping of lessons and drills beginning with Fret 5 (for those of us who tune using our guitar) You have to pass each lesson before moving on to the next and then there are drills combining lessons for review. The fretboard graphic is a clear and easy to see. FretWiz also keeps track of your progress. Well worth the $$

Works as it says.

Yea. Very nice on

This app does just what it says it will. It is a little clunky. No fancy bells or whistles. Just open the app and go. Its working. It has been helpful to me for learning the fretboard. Just spend a little time on it everyday. Thanks, developer.

Great idea, to many glitches

Updated Review: Im on lesson 17 and many of the notes are changing in under a second. Too fast to even make a selection! And when i do make a selection the question will change right before and count my answer wrong even though i choose the correct answer to the previous question. Its not because I'm choosing too slowly, it’s literally less than 1 second for most of the questions (some in 10th of a second) . I really hope for an update to fix this problem, because it started out great. But i guess the 7 fret is as far as this app will take me. I’ll update my review if this problem ever gets resolved. Thanks Old Review: This app has truly helped me learn the frets faster than any other app I've used. The reason i gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because sometimes it seems to glitch in the middle of some lessons. Notes changing too fast/ or not responding to an answer i pick.

This needs fixed -

Hello. I am enjoying using your app but thought you should know that when the test is giving me the note with fret number it says it is correct even when I click the wrong fret number but correct note. (i.e. E fret 2 and I click fret 7 it will say I was correct even though the fret number was wrong) Seems like the code needs and "and" to verify both fields are correct? The other issue is on the IPhone 6 Plus it will slow the phone down to be able to use the app. Thank you for making it and I am hoping it is helping. :)

Not a proper "Learning system" as they claim

It's flash cards. Silent, informationless flashcards. You see a fretboard and have a few seconds to correctly name the note. If you get it correct your score on the fret/note goes up and you are quizzed less. If you get it wrong you get quizzed on it more until you get all notes correct. There is absolutely zero educational information included. No explanation before or after the quiz. No music theory. The notes do not play a sound. You basically learn by process of elimination, kinda like Rosetta Stone. Ok, so there is some merit to learning like this. Once you figure out one string, like the edges you don't forget those. Because when you get them right over and over they stick.

This app is simple and lean but EFFECTIVE!

While some criticize it for a lack of features, this is still the BEST app I have EVER used to rapidly learn the entire fretboard of the guitar. While there certainly are features that could make it even better, it is entirely adequate as it is. It's fast, fun and most important, it works! I now use it whenever I have a spare minute just to practice, but it took me all of 2 weeks to complete the whole program and my confidence on the fretboard is rapidly approaching professional level. You will get out of it what you put into it for sure.

almost, needs a few more functions

I've been using this tool to train myself and finally learn the notes on the fretboard. I like it, but it's missing a key piece of functionality: actually SHOWING you the notes that you are about to be drilled on! This could be added to the lesson drill screens easily, but as it is I have to keep a printout handy ... Still a good tool, tho ...

Great!
