Frollo Reviews

Okay but onerous

breeweiz on

Australia

Frollo is great for a free money management app with high security/privacy safety, but it struggles to automate money allocations into buckets - you have to manually go in and do it every transaction because their system doesn’t remember how you’ve asked it to allocate transactions before (it says it does, but it doesn’t). So requires extra time overall.

Bills need to be easier to mark off / delete for the week

Shauno68 on

I really like Frollo and have used it for years. However I would love for it to be easier to ‘mark off’ multiple bills at once when they build up and have not been automatically accounted for in the app. I currents have about 40 there that I can’t be stuffed individually going through the normal click bill, add payment, skip or find it, then it marks it off and scrolls to the top again. Can’t you just have it that the user can have it expire after a time or be able to ‘skip’ a selected bunch at once? This would tidy up the bills section greatly. Thank you!

So helpful

Love the app. Great as is - but I have a few requests that I think would make it even more awesome: 1) Positive reinforcement thru notifications where spend is trending down in a budget category. 2) Column graphs to show overall spending trends in lifestyle & living categories. 3) Suggested savings targets per pay cycle / quarter / 6 months based on typical income / regular spend and upcoming bills that you can either use, adjust or ignore. 4) Ability to carry unspent portion of budget over time. 5) Ability to set targets for reduction in spend in particular categories. 6) Badges (or something similar) for hitting targets. So if you’re ever in the mood to add features - this is my wish list!

Seems abandoned by developers

A good idea but there hasn't been any response to raised Jira tickets and they clearly aren't active on Reddit anymore so I can only draw the conclusion that the developers have abandoned this app.

Quite good but integration with Amex is intermittent

BigDave99999 on

Australia

I like this app when it works. However in the 9 months or so I’ve been using it the linking to my Amex credit card account fails intermittently. At the moment it has been down for 3 weeks and when I try to reauthorise the approval in the app it currently tells me that “site isn’t supported.” Yes this could be a problem of Amex’s - but it happens regularly and I’m not interested in the hassle of chasing this with Amex.

Getting worse..

The recategorisation recognition used to be quite good but in the past months or so it's become quite dumb ie recategorising everything in the same bucket rather than just using the keyword in the transaction as it used to.. so frustrating.

Super buggy of late. Constantly logged out needing to setup passcode Face ID everytime

Beewatt on

Australia

App has been incredibly buggy of late. I’m constantly being forced logged out and needing to reset my passcode and Face ID everyday. On top of that, accounts will randomly stop syncing despite permissions being up to date. Really average user experience of an app that used to be great. Message for product decision makers: pause on the other (arguably half baked) features (saving goals etc) and invest time into making the core product more reliable.

Buggy but when it works it’s great

Polywaffle on

Australia

I have constant issues with database being reset and it just randomly locking up requiring a force quit(particularly doing transaction searches or tapping around too much). It’s annoying and I think it kills notifications every time this happens, but it doesn’t lose any account settings. However the sync and budgeting features are strong, especially for a free app. I’ll keep using it in hopes the updates will fix these issues.

Lots of potential (room for improvement)

Frollo is a great app, but please consider how to seperate spendings from savings. Everytime I transfer money into my savings account, Frollo categorises it as spending (it’s not). Great for tracking expenses on a credit card but for the reason mentioned above it is difficult to use as a wholistic financial overview. I will continue to track my spendings with Frollo but hope you will improve other aspects of the app too. Lots of potential so excited to see the future improvements.

Great app so far - but please add;

Hdkdhjdjung on

This app so far has been fantastic! I love so much about it. One thing that would really help new users (and to keep the new users), would be to have a way of selecting multiple transactions to add to the same category: I am currently going through the uncategorised section, and I have SOOOO many of the same thing that I need to individually go into to change the category. They all have different reference numbers, so I can understand that the app cannot recognise them all as being the same one. Just going into them allllll one by one by one by one by one is killing me. Other than this one feature mentioned, I have found this app really helps me. I have so far been able to recognise where all my money goes, and how much I really owe/have! Already it has gotten me on to a better path :)
