Frontend Masters

Some apps are pretty buggy in offline mode. But this one works perfectly and instantly. I download my courses while on Wifi and watch on my hour subway ride to work. It’s the most consistent I’ve been learning a new subject matter every day. Ty Frontend Masters for not only picking passionate instructors and relevant topics but also for making your material so mobile!

So happy to learn that FM has an app. Love being able to carry these solid courses around in my pocket.

This app constantly locks up on me and needs to be restarted. Not sure why but rewatching a course for not the first time seems to exacerbate the problem. I’m on an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest iOS and a gigabit connection.

Great content but broken video player. I cannot get the app to play videos without having the audio glitch and drop out, and lots of things like changing video speed don’t work. Super frustrating. Extremely expensive for something that functions like a hackathon project. Also I find it pretty bizarre that the UI/UX is so out dated when all of the content is about Frontend development. It looks like a forum from the 2000s. Also when I reported issues they hit me with the classic IT Croud line “try turning if off an on again” reffering to my phone, that seems like a bonkers thing to have to recommend people in 2023 when an app isn’t working. Also it of course did not help.

Front End Masters has changed my entire career and my life as a result of the intelligence, skills, and knowledge the instructors share. Teaching tech is really different than coding, and I’ve had some teachers who really struggle to explain advanced concepts, but the quality of instructors here is top notch. My phone enables me to watch, learn, review before interviews, or anywhere I am. The desktop app is what I use to practice the skills and I love the ability to read the transcription as well. Life changing education here. 💥

I was not expecting an iOS app focused on JavaScript to be so good. Happy to have been so wrong!

Excellent resource for frontend development. Unfortunately, I have noticed when playing downloaded videos on iOS 17 the pause button does not work. The videos keep playing no matter what I do, unless I press the back button.

I appreciate that frontend masters has an iPhone app at all, but basic video functionality is broken. I’m unable to pause videos, for example—clicking on the pause button merely mutes them. The PIP mode has a zombie defect where dismissing the video the first time doesn’t work permanently and it comes back when another app is opened. When it is finally dismissed it continues playing silently in the background until the app is force quit. Overall the nonstandard controls in full screen mode are frustrating, eliminating native functionality/UI. But again, I appreciate that there’s an app at all.

Website works fine but this app is broken.
